Did you spray or brush or roll the paint? ......Spraying would produce the normal enamel problems, drift, runs, insects, etc....wouldn't it? I've got some Norglass here ready to go, but not sure of the best way to apply it, and don't want to spray outside.

Hi Humpty2,
Our Quest was spray painted, I don't know if you'd quite get the same finish by hand painting, (I mean flat & smooth) however it is an extremely high gloss paint so you should get the shine.
My friend has a huge shed which has had the walls & roof lined & an extraction fan fitted in the wall, so even with the doors closed & the floor hosed you still get the odd bug but they generally polish out. The orange was done in clear over base 2-pak & for some reason the clear seemed to attract a few extra bugs but it gets cut & polished anyway.
I guess if I were you & you were thinking of brushing or rolling, try both on a small flat section first & see how they look, then you'll know!!
Cheers Adam.

I have a large shed, but it has 3 caravans, 2 cars, 2 ride-ons, and heaps of other junk (swap meet) in there. Very difficult to remove everything out and cover the rest against spray drift. I will have a little play at the hand painting.......later on. I'm thinking about making my own spray booth by hanging wet hesion around the job. Thanks for your quick reply.

Actually forgot to mention that if you decide to spray with enamel to give it a very fine coat first & this will help avoid runs in the paint. If you decide to spray in your shed at least everything will be the same colour, better mask up the windows & chrome first!!!

Hi kazandadam The inside looks real nice. Your choice of colour suits it well. You are progressing at a rather rapid rate too.. Are you planning to go touring at Easter??

The van's looking just fantastic Kaz and Adam. In fact looking back at the first photos you posted it's hard to believe it's the same caravan. Nice job. Well done. Don Ricardo

This is one of the most remarkable renos I've seen on this website. I found the tips for spraying extremely helpful so thanks. Do you have a paint code for the Noraglass product you used? I'm about to spray my Sunliner.

Hi all, Haven’t had an update for a while, but here’s the latest pics, we will have the dining cushions back this week,my wife Kaz was impressed as I picked the genuine 8.3mtrs of cutain material (might be a bit loud for some but goes with the theme) souce some hubcaps, new U-bolts & just have to get the electrical tidied up, then blue slip & rego. By the time this is done, project two should be home! I tried to show a close up of the chrome edging, I had this idea at 3.00am one morning. I bought a 30m roll of 19mm wide automotive protector stripe, put this on with contact glue, then ran two double black pin strips over the top! It looks just like the original except it’s chrome, not gold, but looks good against the orange. You'll probably see it best on the third photo down. Cheers Adam.

kazandadam. It was a real eyeopener for me when I called in and met Adam & Kaz, to have the privelege of looking through, in, under, their fibreglass van project. Pictures sometimes lie, but to see this one in the flesh confirms a stellar job Is is so near finished, and was impressed with the finish of the painted surfaces, they are perfect. The floor covering fits in well with the colour scheme, it is a very cheery atmosphere van. As you well aware, knowing how to finish all the bits is everything for a final professional look, and Adam has achieved this, no easy task. The fibreglass body lends itself to a superb gloss paint job too & shouldnt need any maintenance for many years. ;D ;D So, a job well done kazandadam, a good indicator of what we will see with the '36 project. Thanks for the warm welcome & hospitality. ST.

Hi all, Had some U-bolts made up & lowered the Quest with two inch lowering blocks, I think it looks suttle & an improvement to the overall appearance. Hopefully have some nice shiney hubcaps on it next week.................... Before........................ After........................

Hi adam,
Its amazing how much a little change like that can affect your impression of the van on first sight. It looks much better to me.
One thing I found with Lucille when I towed her first time on the Highway, was that the loading can induce a lean. I've got a big deep cycle battery near the door, & I also put my annex, all the pegs, tools & hammers, gas bottle & a trolley jack on the same side behind the wheel. Hadnt fitted fridge & microwave on the other side at that stage.
So it was unbalanced. That didnt affect the towing, just that I could tell looking in my mirror that she was leaning.
I point it out because it must happen at times to others.
