A few days ago I was sorting through a file of bits and pieces in my filing cabinet - nothing to do with caravans - when I came across the instructions for lighting the Coleman 6-J model camp stove which came new with our Don caravan in 1949. When we moved house in 1993, the stove had long since been replaced in the van by electric hot plates, and I gave the stove away. Although Cobber was just getting into V V's at that point, I didn't know him then or anyone else who was interested in V V's for that matter (except me), so I couldn't see any point in keeping the stove. Much to my regret now. Anyway, I thought it might be worthwhile to post the instructions for the stove in case they may be useful at some stage for somebody trying to light a Coleman or other make of petrol stove. The above leaflet opens up to provide the same information in French, reflecting the Coleman stove's Canadian origins. Some further info: I've also still got the quick reference guide which was attached to the stove, which again may be useful: By the way, if anyone comes across a Coleman 6-J model camp stove or another Coleman stove of a similar type in reasonable working condition, I would be interested in acquiring it. The 6-J was dark green in colour with a copper coloured petrol pressure tank. Hope the instructions help someone. Don Ricardo

G'day Don R..... and a happy new year to you and yours. The stove I got from Mr Humpty to put in Ol' 36 is a Coleman 6J and she works OK.. so long as you're not hungry and in a hurry. I did find instructions for it on the net but it is nice to see the originals, thanks for posting them. The design of that duel fuel stove has not changed much you know.. and you can still get parts to keep the vintage ones going. You kept the 'van.... gave the stove away but.... kept the instructions . Does your wife ever worry about you Don R. ? Cobber.
