Hi Julie.. You dont have to say sorry to me. Just glad Matilda has gone to someone that has an interest in old vanning and has what i consider "An appropriate Tow car" If someone had approached me to buy her and i sniffed the slightest chance of it being turned into a teenage retreat or "weekender" ......... ... well... I would have politely told them to bugger off. Vintage caravanning is a great hobby and the whole scene is full of really great people. I am sure you and your husband will have many happy trips away with your young family in the van. Just do me a favour and make sure that some of those trips are on organised runs and events that you see advertised here on www.vintagecaravans.com. Give my regards to Matilda and make sure stays high and dry undercover. Reddo

Hi there The story with the car is much the same as Matilda actually. We seen the car on the road a few times and admired her, then one day we turned up at a car show and there she was for sale, it was love at first sight and we bought her. We havent done anything to her looks as we have spent most of our time and money with mechanical Stuff...We will get around to changin those door trims one day, but with two young girls and a house that need attention its on the back burner. As for Matilda seen her about 2 year or maybe less at the Clarendon swap meet, again fell in love and this started us on the hunt for a VV, Little did we know that we would own that very van... I think fate plays a big part in life . Things find you.

Nice ride Bindilou. Beer on tap is one thing but 'gears'on tap!! There is/was an awesome Ponti mascot on 'you know where'. Probably as long as yours sans the wings but resembling a locomotive with Chief Pontiacs head etched in detail. cheers gordon

Hi Bindilou,
What a great old original appearing car. Nothing wrong with the "Mexican blanket" trim on the doors. By the look of the shifter, its probably running a Chev V8 & Auto??? Its also got a few subtle custom tricks visible in the picture, like headlight frenching & molded/painted top grille bar. Without more pix that restricts us seen how it was reworked, but it looks pretty Kool to me.
Kaybee will probably spot more reworked bits than me, but hes a lot more into the hot rodding scene than most.
A big percentage of this Forums members arent into US cars like a some of us hotrodders are, but theres nothing wrong with that . The Forum & Web Site are supposed to be about vans, not cars, but cars have been a major part always.
A trend in USA is to use "mexican blankets(colorful blankets)" as a cheap interior finish. Some like it, some dont.
Dont even matter whether you like hotrodding or not, cause you have a great ride to use as you want.
Hope to catch up on the road with you guys, your Poncho & your van, enjoying the good life, like most of us try to do as often as possible
JBJ

Thanks JBJ we certainly are keen on her, looks like a groper in this shot. Yeh it has a chev motor with a powerglide. We have grown to like the mexican trim but they do need a bit of cleaning. See you on the road.

Cheers just gotta get the tow bar sorted for the Poncho and we'll be right , might have to put higher springs in her though as she sits pretty low. When you get around to it could you pm me with the paint colours used on exterior. Cheers
