Hi rfw I reckon you are talented enough to do it yourself. Just buy a sheet of 10mm ply. Cut a heap ... 12 .... ribs out of the sheet ... then laminate (glue and screw) em together in pairs. Bingo.... 6 ribs ready to roll. For an optic at what i am talkin about...... See reply #31 ...page 3 of "Reddos TD.. the 20 year blah, blah blah..... Reddo... blah, blah, blah

Hi Gordon... Its your call... 2 X 10 or 12mm ply sections glued and screwed together would be.....in my honest opinion... be far stronger than any piece of timber that had been bent by whatever means they use. Every second laker of ply has the grain running the opposite to the one beside it Therefore you havent got to work about it "splintering" or fracturing. Next time ya near a building site have a look the big timber beams they use nowadays for load bearing etc... stringers etc.. most are laminated beams Yeah i know they use RHS steel beems too but i see a lot of those l;aminated timeber beams being used too. Now if its good enough to use ply laminates in those sort of situations then it will certainly handle anything that a TD boot lid is gunna throw at it. I am not keen on that crap "dove tailed " pine facia board stuff they use now a days....its dove tailed "end to end along its length". I suppose because it aint load bearing they can get away with it. Just tryin ta save some ( no.. a lot) of money. In the end it is your call mate. Keep us posted with the project. Reddo ...

Gordon, I'll add support to Reddo's case. We sell heaps of LVL's that are often in sizes over 12" because they are stronger. Just make sure you're not stingy on the glue.. John with the little cream and red bondy also did his own for the side beams for his whole van and he was a novice and very successful at it.. As for the timber benders, I think i'd rather have them here in Mexico than fruit benders... ;D Cheers Chris
