Hey Sharon
By the looks of things it's going to be a long restoration....
To restore a van from scratch can take years of weekends and nights
Look at JBJ's Sunliner or TonyH's Olympic or even mine
The effort required is only going to be done by an enthusiastic individual.....
I guess what I am trying to say is Hubby is the best bet....
If you can motivate him with lots of encouragement.....
My other half gets impatient because we can't use our van yet and it has been about 14 months since dragging it home from Newcastle
JBJ has been on his project since 2005
Admittedly his is going to be far superior than any other Sunliner or Olympic I've ever seen.
All my workmates and family hear about is that damned caravan in the front yard....
Because unless I keep at it, it will never get finished.
Scootman had a saying about such projects and that was " If it isn't done in two years then look at getting rid of it"
Set small goals and praise the progress
Any nagging will get the wrong result and Ebay will have another vintage van up for sale.
Once the floor is in tackle the interior one bed or lounge or whatever at a time.
Keep photos and the progress will be satisfying....
It's the only way I keep motivated on such a long project.
The cost of employing someone to do the work for you will run into tens of thousands....
In which case it would be cheaper and less frustrating to buy a renovated van...
There was a magic Kennedy on Ebay last week for only $7500
Your restoration is likely to cost between $15K and $20K including purchase cost.
Most of the cost will be on replacement bits and pieces, ply, laminate, etc, etc, etc ......
Add labour to that and it becomes one expensive van
My saying is "How does an ant eat an elephant? One bite at a time"
Enjoy the ride and praise the worker....
Jump in and do what you can as well.
All the best on the restoration
Cheers
Atog
