Hi all, I bought some Brasso to try and clean the brass tap and filler cap etc that are on a galvanized water tank I acquired from Reddo. Anyway, after making myself totally sick with the fumes and scrubbing away for hours, someone reminded me that Coca Cola used to be great at cleaning the old 1 and 2 cent pieces and I gave it a go. WOW, I soaked the tap for about 4 days and after a very quick 5 min scrub, I have a shiny brass tap and cap etc.... Thanks to Coca Cola( full strength). Thought I should share this in case it may save someone else the $8 cost of Brasso and all of that elbow grease...

Hi LBB I use to collect old pennys and Half pennys when i was young. i used coca cola all tghe time to clean them up. The coke back then had a lot more fizz than todays stuff , but it sounds like it hasnt lost any of its potency. I often see people leaving shopping centres with 3 or 4 - 2 litre bottles of coke in there singlet bags. Makes me stop and wander just what its doing to the guts of the kids that are drinking out Dont suppose its any worse than the rum, burbon, scotch that we get from the local bottlo..... Sounds like progress is being made on your van. Please do as Mark has asked on the "Mattress" thread and send him some pixs of your van so we can all have a look-see . Reddo
