G'Day Retro The NSW Van has a "Black Eye" (Left front pane) Did the two vans have a bit of a punch up when they first met Or had they been drinking while parked out front of "Liquorland" and started fighting over some sexy young Millard. ;D Purple - "One eyed flying purple people eater" Reddo from "The far side"

Thanks Reddo for telling me this was here, yep same sort as ours but i think the year on this one is late 50' early 60's as the windows are smaller on the front and the side windows don't have any brows. they apparantly took that stuff off coz it cost too much to produce. Ours is either late 40 or early 50 (they were produced all over the place and i think a couple of different companies had a mould. Did any one go to the Caravanning Nationals at Naranderra last Easter??? Would love to see some photos from that. catch ya have to go to work - someone has to pay for an annex now!!! Deb 52chevygirl

G'Day Will and Lyn Yup, I agree totally. Would love to get something like Ditzy suggested organised. As you say it would need to be at least twelve months away for me and probably others for that matter to get enough coins together to finance a trip to somewhere in the middle. I think someone worked out that Ceduna is about halfway. Most of my weekends are centred around vintage bike runs. When I am not riding them I am usually repairing them. To make matters worse I am president of the local bike club and cop phone calls at all hours of the night and day. The wife and i use to spend heaps of time away fishing and camping at the beach in an old LandRover towing a aluminium back of a milkos truck for a camper. Really good views with all three roller doors up , but proved embarassing on occassions . I really miss it and the vintage van scene is the perfect excuse to get outta the groove that I am in. As for the comedian side of things .... We all need a sense of humour when we make a hobby of fiddling with things that are older than ourselves. Come to think of it thats probably why I drink as well ;D Have sent a few pichas to Mark of "The backyard Blitz on our van" Hopefully they will be up shortly. hoo roo Reddo from "The Far Side"

Hi there Retro 1
I is a real buzz to see our van on this site, I had no idea that it would couse such a stir although over the 5322 k trip I am guessing that the PPS was photographed over 50 times So I would not be surprised where pics will turn up.
The trip back to Newcastle seems as if she was preggers, but when we unloaded her on our return I found 6 dozen bottles of wine stashed under the bed. No sign of vanettes yet but I am still waiting.
I purchased some door knobs from the place you suggested... Thanks for the tip.

HI there Retro1 I thought that I would pass on the info that I have gathered on the sunliner caravans and to respond by saying that I collected a very large trung full of various Bessemer. I was very pleased with my efforts.
According to some of the many people that we have encountered on our travels, includig an 80 year old man who was still travelling in his 1956 Sunliner which he bought brand new, The model which I have - no eyebrows, and the canvas lining was the first production run which began in 1953. They were built in two locations, Forster (NSW) and Tasmania. They then moved on to the later model in 1956 which incorperated fiberglass in the interior, wheel spats and perspex curved windows at the front and rear. The canvas lining was replaced also. The later models also had the option of independent suspension where as the 56 used a single axle with no brakes.
Cheers
