We are writing to you regarding the possibility of your club providing a static display for
‘RockStock 2008’, to be held at Helidon on Sunday 7th September 2008.
⇒ “What is RockStock 2008?”
Together for the first time, at one venue and on one day, the following headline acts:
• THE DELLTONES (50th Anniversary Bopa Doo Wop Tour)
• NORMIE ROWE
• LITTLE PATTIE
• SIX O’CLOCK ROCK JOHNNY O'KEEFE TRIBUTE with Barry Larter
• TONY WORSLEY (Australia’s Beatle)
• THE COUNTDOWNS (Australia’s longest running Rock-n-Roll band)
The compare for this exciting line-up of artists will be JOHNNY YOUNG from TVs
‘Young Talent Time’.
⇒ “Why RockStock?”
The event is being organised by people in this area who aim to put the Helidon area ‘on the
map’. It will celebrate the important contribution of this locality to all that is Australian. This
includes our culture, landmarks, Helidon Sandstone, Helidon Spa Water and it’s history.
The inaugural RockStock 2008 will specifically celebrate the incredible musical
entertainment that took place in the 1960s and 70s at the Helidon Spa Park , which was
known as the “Gold Coast” of Toowoomba. Mineral spa baths, water-skiing, swimming in
the southern hemisphere’s largest swimming pool, and the sizzling array of live music from
The Delltones, The BeeGees, Normie Rowe and many others, drew people from miles
around.
The Legends Return to Helidon
⇒ “Why do we want your cars at RockStock 2008?”
The whole festival will have a 50’s and 60’s feel to it, from the food “Diners”
and the fashions of that era, to the Rock’n’Roll Dance Workshop. There will
be an Amusement Land section for the young and the young at heart and we think a display
of classic cars, such as your members treasure, will add that ‘something special’ to the event
and help to set the atmosphere.
You will appreciate the 7th September is fast approaching and as we are inviting a number of
clubs - we are expecting at least 30 show cars to participate - we would like to confirm your
club’s attendance as soon as possible. Please contact myself directly on 0407 007 737 or
email events@helidon.org. Could you also email through a photo of the vehicle/s attending.
Please find enclosed an A4 flyer for RockStock 2008 as well as some smaller flyers that could
be passed on to interested members, friends or relatives.
Yours sincerely,
Brian
RockStock 2008 Co-ordinator
The Legends
well its on this Sunday.
A few of us are taking our cars & vans to it, all arranged by Dosse, our (unofficial) SE Qld representative. I think even the Daggster might be along for the ride.
We're going to be at Helidon ( near Toowoomba in Qld) fairly early Sunday, for a day of mingling with who the hell knows who or what.
Promises to be a great day. I'm in the same age group as most of the performers. Who knows, we might even get a burnout competition going ( wouldnt be started by me but)
We will definitely post a few pix when we resurface.
