We will most likely be there Di. You can pencil us in wherever you like, I guess you and Judy could have a couple of neighbourly wines..................we should be half price as we only need half a site. Ken

Aaaahhhh Young Jrodhopper son... You are forgiven for being young and uninformed. The woodmaster must remind you that they where putting beer into timber barrels/ Kegs .lllllllllllllllllllllllllllllooooooooooonnnnnnnnngggggggggg before they "dug up" aluminium. Oh.. and they do make timber mugs . Available at most arty farty wood working shops. T'is interesting to note that they add a small dash of arsenic ( some call it XXXX) to the contents of the aluminium can before adding the contents. This is to eliminate the horrible taste of aluminium, Glass stubbies are the go !!! or Longnecks.....No.... i do not know of any Bottle glass caravans... there is that "Other " form of Glass.... But if they start serving drinks up in Fgross containers .... I will give up drinking Off to Canton on sunday to check out the park and have a yarn with the Manager. Thanks for doing the ground work for us Di. I just wanna have a look around too , and sound the managers out about what weekend in May they will be able to take us all in. ?? Reddo

Hi all, Sorry I haven't got back to you for a couple of days - i've been off the air. Koala, yes it was Spag Bol, but i'm certain that anything Judy cooks would be great . But to save Judy having to cook - i'll try and find out what time the Fish and Chip Shop closes and let you know. Humpty, yes I have managed to put a hold on every one of the sites - 22 Powered and 13 Non Powered sites. Thanks to all of you that have replied so far To those of you that have requested a particular site number, especially the site numbers 322 to 334 - please note all of these sites are the unpowered sites. Even though most of us managed at Coledale without power, i'm guessing that some of you would prefer power. Therefore I haven't held any of the sites for any of you as yet. Please PM me and let me know if you want Powered or Non-powered. Also give me your Surname, so I can make the booking? To make it fair I will give the choice of powered site positions to those people in the order that you have replied to the thread so far i.e. Reddo, J-Rod, Geoff & Jude, Humpty, Colin & Sue, Chippy Dave, Koala, Wildmanus. So far site 213 (powered) is the only site that has been booked (by me) ;D So whoever is game to pick 212 or 214 will be next to us. Also, i'm not trying to separate anyone - just trying to check people's preference. At Munmorah this year it appeared as though alot of the Fibreglass vans were together over on one side of the road, slightly away from the other group. Do you want that to be the case again? If so, when you PM me, also say Fibreglass Group. Wilmanus - The Grand Canyon sounds good to me - perhaps we can make that a trip for 2010. We can try to find some more of those Aluminium trees whilst we are there? J-Rod it wasn't me that found the picture of the Aluminium Tree it was Geoff and Jude. Reddo no worries about going to have a look at Canton beach - I think it's a great idea, especially as you will be able to work out what I mean about the 2 areas. By the way I phoned to speak to the Manager today to check a couple of things only to be told that she is in the USA. I am waiting on someone else to call me back to confirm a couple of things. I am fairly certain that the park is dog friendly as I have seen some there on previous occassions, but will double check. That all for now. Regards Di

Hi Guys .. In between rebuilding caravan chimneys, goin to the local tip recycling shop and the big green "Blokes only" shop.. I managed to do the 1 hour ( each way) run to Canton beach and reel of some happy snaps.. Heres what we are lookin at next May.. New camp kitchen being built not too far from the waterfront campsites The start of short street . there is about 17 sites along here but they face across the road at a row of Cabins.. Cabins arent "perminants" but ya dunno who is gunna be our neighbours on the weekend that we are there?? Looking out west onto the bay.. Yup.. its called Canton "beach" but it is part of tuggerah lakes.. no Tsanamis here.. Where the green bin is .. is my site... i get a "rabbit proof fence" around me...and... a 20,000litre personal urinal..... My reputation goes before me. ] The crapper and bath House... Just a short stroll.. but a long way when ya in a hurry to dump last nights cookin out of your.... .. "System" . Now where cookin.. found these little suckers parked out the front of the Gatehouse... tried to work a long term lease out with the caretaker so i could take one to Coledale for the billycart derby and Kick the Cole Kids ass.... Lemme seeee $10 an hour for the next 28 days... 10 X 24 X 28 ... ummm .. nup.. i will give it a miss thanks. So there ya go trendsetters.. a day tour of Canton Beach van park... oh.. i didnt go up into the top bit.. looked like a whole nest of permanents . I reckon that ya just wouldnt feel part of the get together if ya ended up nesting up there.. Sooo .. about 20 sites down in the lower section . about 12 all together.. others within abuse and a stubby throw of those sites. Mixed bag of powered, tree covered, unpowered sites. NO FIRES from what i could see.. OOOOOhhh bugger.. it is winter we are talkin about goin here Hope this post was of some help Di Oh bye the way.. even managed to fit in a bit of garage saleing across the road from the van park. Chic had demolished a Bay cruiser boat. Picked up these 3 staino fridge vents, a very solid brass soap holder and a cut glass 12 v Light fitting with a switch on it . I have seen/ got a few 12V fittings like this but have never seen a fitting with a switch on it. It is now living on the side of "Rosie" for an annexe light... $5.00 the lot.... ....happy as a dog with 2 dic.... .. tails Its 11.00pm .. i'm stuffed .. talk to you all tomorrow... Reddo the dribbler.

The only thing missing from this picture is a few dozen vintage vans Oh and the appropriate amount of inappropriately attired yobbo van owners beer in hand.... passed out on the foreshore
Hmmmm might have to get the Olympic up and running faster
Notice the bauxite babe with the microwave dish pointing at it..... a new form of central heating? So do you want fries with that?

Hi All,
Thanks to Reddo - our on the spot roving reporter. Great job.
I'm glad that someone else "experienced in the way of Vint Van Events" went along and had a look to check it out.
As your photos show, some of the facilities are being updated at present, so that's a bonus.
Looks like you went on a sunny day aswell.
Great views of the lake.
At present the manager is away until after the long weekend, therefore I will come back to you all with more info after that date.
Kind regards Di

Hi all, I hope this post won't open a can of worms, but I think this needs to be raised. With the Nationals in 2010 now being moved to May - the Nationals will clash with Munmorah/Canton Beach weekend every alternate year. Therefore we will need to either move the Canton Beach date every 2nd year or miss out on a weekend away every 2nd year. As we are moving in 2009 from Munmorah to Canton Beach anyway - is it worth changing the date aswell? ? We could move it to around Easter time, which I think is when the Nationals used to be. Easter 2009 is 10th to 13th April. Or at some other time. In March some of us are going to Berry, so perhaps March is out, unless it's late March. At Coledale - Humpty suggested we have a get together in late January or February, so perhaps that could be a good time. Anyway it's open to suggestion. If people already have May set in their minds and diaries, then we can leave it as is and then just look at changing the date in 2010. Over to you Kind regards Di

Hi Dianne
I am happy to just leave it where it is. I see canton as an alternative for those that cannot afford to go to the nats every second year... or have simply been to the nats .. done that.
wether ya get 2 vans or 20 at Canton it doesnt really matter. Its always fun no matter where or when we go anywhere.
The bike club i am involved in do a similar thing each year for those that are down and out broke, cant get time off work to go to an interstate national.. we call it "The destitute Run" held locally and always well attended.
Not wise trying to book in to any caravan park at Easter time, crowds, noise, thieves etc.
Who knows what thier financial position is gunna be in 2 years time. A lot of water can go under the cash bridge in that time.

Hi all,
Mark, no worries, just give Jo-Ann a call on 02 4396 3252 and she will be able to set you up with a cabin close by to the vint vans.
Reddo, what a shame, but fully understand that there is only so many weekends away that can be fitted into the schedule.
Kind regards Di
