Looked at this 1948 Dodge Fargo for sale in Brissy yesterday......... ........appears a pretty solid truck ...restored about 5-10 years ago ..first registered in NSW, whith full engineering paper work for all mods ...more recently registered inQLD with all approved certification and mod plates by QLD transport.....currently unreg. Positives ...273 cu.in Chrysler V8 ..727 torqueflight auto ...front Ford disc brakes ... Ford rear with disc brakes built for towing with Hayman Reese towbar ...good radiator . Trans cooler ...working , cold, air cond ...tidy interior with toyota buckets ..5 x new mags / tyres ...big wellback with good torneau ......couldn't see any major rust Negatives ...would need a power steer front end IMO ... put on gas...for economy ...heavy truck at 2150 kg , but would pull a larger van quite well ...speedo only , needs gauges ....one for the Chrysler nut !!! ...asking $12 800 Cheers , Cactus

Hi sutcac,
Pretty cheap considering what has been done.
They are not a popular body style, & as you said, they are HEAVY.
It would be a big job getting a decent power steer into one, mainly because of the weight. You wouldn't be able to use the traditional HQ-Z chassis graft, & I dont think even the Jag front that kaybee uses a bit would be heavy enough, but Kaybee would know from experience much better than I do from observation.
But it would match the Fugly van prettty well in the looks department.

looks good value for money Cactus I do however prefer the "coup ute" version though, like the one stored in the Beverley shed: the rounded turret with the rear quarter window looks cool .....as opposed to the "squared off" earlier version ... Mark
