Hi Folks, I recently had a win at a garage sale. I have been hunting for a radio for the van for ages, but every time I see one suitable, I balk at the price (have been looking at radios between $60 and $100). Anyway spotted one at a garage sale when I enquired about the price, I was told that 'no idea if it works mate, how about a couple of bucks'. Couldn't hand over my little gold coin quick enough, who cares if it works for that! here it is: My first question is how old is it? Second question, looking at the internals is, can someone please tell me what and how batteries should go in this thing? There appears to be a negative and active wire running to the little round thing, but it appears to me somethings missing. Help please, I want to at least know if this bargain is a working bargain or a decorative bargain. Cheers, and thanks in advance, Gristy

hi the HMV radio you have is an early 60's model, its an early transistor radio. the battery that ran this radio was a long skinny battery that fitted in the empty space and the plug with the 4 lugs fitted into the top of the battery. Unfortinatly those batteries are no longer available .
