Hidey ho there fibreglass types.
Someone once said "Ya cant see the forest for the trees"
I have lived where i live for the past 10 years. I use to regularly walk the drug ridden cattledog around the neighbourhood taking a different route each time.
Always scanning and stickybeeking over fences for old vans.
Never know when someone is gunna drag home an old pommy motorbike or maybe someone has just inherited grandads kingswood/ premier/ fairmont etc.
Today Trish wanted to take the Norton out for a blap just to get away from the vans and the engine transplant that is happening down the shed with Eddy the EK ute.
We had a few hours out blapping around the boondocks on the fastback commando. On the way home i swung up the street behind our place... Have walked it 100 times .. but today i spotted a Sunliner that has slipped through my radar in the past.
So i shot home .. put on my asbestos overalls and hung up my royal society for preservation of bondwood vans sports jacket and went back and knocjked on the door.
The inhabitants materialised from within the bowels of the abode and welcomed me like any good Nova Castrian does.
"Waddya want" was the greeting.
reddo comes back with "G'day mate... waddya doin with that rotten, dirty old run down Sunliner out the side of ya house there."
"Oh that we are going to get rid of it. It has been there for 10 years"' ran out of rego about a year ago. We dont use it any more.. usta be grandads"
Some further inspection a deal is struck. I cant belive i went all the way to Orange to drag a sunliner home when there was one about a "Cooee" away from home.
here the pics.
The front.windows are frosted/crazed front and back. side ones are ok.
i bought thje VC commy as a hack while i am doin Eddys motor. 1 granny owner with around 150 thousand ks. 202 4 speed 1980 VC...will be on ebay as soon as ed is out of intensive care.
Hey JBJ. I can loan ya the spats if ya need em.
The rear
right side
inside. The inside ceiling was removed in 1970 and pink batts installed . then a total respray .
Now here's something ya dont see everyday, Under the front drivers side kitchen seat we have a compressor unit which feeds the converted ice chest to fridge. bloke reckons it gets a bit hot in summer but his grandad fitted 2 vents in the seat base and one through the outside of the van. Still has drain to let water out on defrost cycle or if ya wanna use a bag of ice and be a fair dinkum vint vanner... ya can.
spare wheel installed underneath at rear with winder downera. torsion bar suspenders too. web trussed chassis. 13" X about 165 radials.
the step looks like it has come from the shed of invention. has 2 old gate hinges for " fold away mechanism" If ya look close there is a choke cable like arrangement that yoiu push to realease the step from the "Locked away" position
Old grandad didnt like the idea of the cantilever step taking all the weight so he made a brass support leg with brass base that adjusts up under the step to help take the weight of a drunk coming home dancing on the doorstep.
Whats that ya say.. ya want more... Ok hows about a...
full annexe ( marconni track on roof) that has been used about three times. Its all there including lower skirts, ropes, pegs and aluminiuim poles.
the cupboards have a few toasters and wat nots in there as well.
Chassis number is TR4-1960548
last registered about 2 years ago and expiry date id 17/10.
GVM = 610.
Ok thats about it. needs a bit of tidying up on the outdie . anew set of curtains on the inside... the wood acroos the front and back under the windows has rotted due to broken leaky windows and seals but nothing major.
How much didja pay Reddo?? PM me if ya really wanna know.
