;D
Lyn and I were talking about tow cars when we thought we might ask someone that has been involved in Vintage Vans for a while for his opinion on Marks post
So we asked
Ken Kennedy
what he said was
It seems to me that because of the geographics and Australia being a massive country
and the many situations people may find themselves in from time to time a classic or vintage car may not be either available or a viable proposition to attend a meeting with
there are the following
some people live in units and duplexes so there is space
then there is disability
then there is the cost of purchase and registration
then there is the vast distances we have to travel to get to a show
cost of fuel and maintenance
whether the Vintage car can handle the long Kilometres to arrive safely
braking capabilities
weight and stability factors
then finally the cost factor of carrying a car that is used infrequently
Tucky will be driving his statesman to Mt Gambier because his plymouth runs a guzzling v8 and his statesman is more comfortable and has air he is on a pension and needs to save money
Lyn and I will be driving our Fairlane ghia for the same reasons
plus my lower back problem requires a soft ride
definately not vintage but has air con and will suit the occasion for my lower back
Lyn Ken and I believe that seeing we dont have a club
and if you love your vintage van then whichever whatever however you can get there is a good thing
!! ;D
when reddo came on the first national he came in his Landcruiser went out and collected wood for the fires we sat around for 3 days
no way would that be done in a vintage car what we are simply saying as you would in any democratic organisation club or no club
we will love to see anyone with a Vintage Van even if it was towed by a horse
Others may see it another way we dont
in fact it is there democratic right to an opinion be it popular or unpopular
in fact Ken Kennedy is going on a run this weekend with some of his wee friends and we are loaning him the Kennedy seeing he hasnt got a licence
he has recruited a few of his friends to assist in arriving safely
this definately puts a new meaning of putting a Tiger in your Tank
If you see Ken in your travels
give him a wave and welcome him with open arms he loves Vintage Vanning just like Lyn and I
