I like your Dodge JBJ ......a nice original looking mid fifties car with mechanical upgrades ......and I'm with Sue, its suits your Sunliner . Re the wheels ......this is a personal opinion only, but I don't understand why people fit late model wheels to old cars If you want BA Falcon wheels ......why not buy a BA BA Falcon wheels belong on BA Falcons and steels rims with hubcaps belong on mid fifties Dodges .....or have I got it wrong mmmmm......might take the wheels off my HSV Grange on the weekend & stick em on my FX ;D ;D ;D

Hi Menace Good to see ya bring the Dodge "out of the closet" and show everyone. I had a look around it when the Kingys and I ( The kingys and I sounds like a good title for a musical ) stayed overnight at your place on the way to wintersun. Shes a good old hack and just needs a bit of TLC on the body. The rust has caught up with it since you called at my place 12 months or so ago. Sounded good when the Kingys took it for a blatt into town and will match up well with sunliner while the van is white. I seem to remember you saying that the sunny is going to end up a similar colour to the rod in heavy metflake green . Is that plan still going ahead or are we going to see it stay garden plain variety white Pleased to hear that you have found new enthusiasm for the old Kingsway , and I bet boots is happy to sit up in a car with doors that actually have wind up windows . Good stuff Reddo

Think outside the sqaure... dont be a sheep. If we where all the same hieght, same weight, walked the same, talked the same, had the same faces, the same personality and dressed the same this world would be a boring place . Praise the lowered and glory to the modified masses. ;D Reddo ...always will be an extravert. ;D ;D ;D

Hi JBJ, Dodge looks great! The susp, change of mirrors and other bits and pieces has cleaned her up a treat. That 351 would certainly do the job pulling the Sunliner. On the tour, in the hilly parts i will have to put my van on the back of yours to give the 186 a break From the photo's, the current wheels look great but i understand your frustration. I love the original look, but if its XR8 wheels that tickle your fancy then go for it. Look forward to seeing the pics and the car in the flesh on the tour. Cheers J-Rod

Nice Dodge, especially with the upgraded mechanics, perfect for the sunliner, looking forward to seeing the eventual color scheme.

Hi JBJ,
Thats the same model Dodge that the original owner of my 1953 homemade bondy towed the van with.
I've got original black and white photies of it here "somewhere" with the van behind ready to go on one of its trips.
Going by the photos, his was a dark colour, most likely black.
Not into Dodges but is yours a Kingsway??
Cheers,
Terry.

Hi JBJ,
I reckon the metalflake paint and late model alloys will look gr8.
Nice style of car, and whilst I like Henry's I agree it is good to see something that is not a Henry, Chev or Aussie Chev (oops I mean Holden ;D)
Cheers,
Gristy

G'day Jailbarjuice,
Your Dodge is a very nice looking car. It appears to me to be a 1956 Coronet Australian model (not a '55) bumpers, head light rims, chrome strips etc indicate such.
The model range for that year was Dodge Coronet Saloon automatic drive 250ci side valve motor 2,234 pounds top of the range, Dodge Kingsway Crusader manual gearbox with overdrive 250ci sv mtr 2,069 pounds and the Dodge Kingsway Custom manaul 230ci sv at 1,961 pounds. Prices as at June '56.
Utes were available in the same line up.
Power steering and brakes, tinted glass etc were options across the entire range. Leather upholstery finished with '55 models, '56 onwards were vinyl.
I've had my '55 Kingsway Custom for over 30 years and have found it to be a good cruising car, the're a great for a tow vehicle and were very popular in the 50s & 60s as such.
All the best,
Rob

G'day Jailbarjuice,
I'd say so, subject to a check of body & chassis numbers.
I didn't notice the rego plates but yes you'll have to obtain Ol 956.
I must pull my finger out and work out how to lodge photos of my '55 & '37 Dodge sedans in the Tow Cars section.
All the best,
Rob
