Surely that was fitted by a first year apprentice with a gaelic background?

Hi Mark I have hade a few FX and FJ s with original towbars and most of them were fitted up through the stone tray as the one in the photo. The only reason I could come up with is that it is the shortest distance, rather than going around the bar.
Cheers. Trodler.

nah Maurie .......it wasn't Its parked in what used to be the showroom floor of the Beverley Holden dealer. Its an interesting story ......the dealership closed down in the late 80's when they had to tool up for the new VN Commo, the dealership wasn't busy enough to justify the expense, so ceased to become a new car dealership. Its now a workshop - come spare parts outlet. Two brothers run it, one in his late 80's, the other in his early 90's. They've been a GM dealer since the late 1930's (maybe my 39 Chev was purchased new there ). The two old guys front for work each day, and basically do nothing, the workshop is closed, the parts are mostly Holden from the 80's, and the old guys sit around sipping cups of tea. They own the lot, lock, stock & barrell, so its no problem .... When Cobber visited Beverley last September, we went in there and I asked for Holden brochures, and got many good Holden brochures from the 70's and 80's ......the cost .....25 cents each ;D ;D ;D .....gotta be happy with that My mate Rod Smith of FJ Holden panel van fame (bakers van in Don Loffler's book) has been chasing their stocks of early Holden parts and memorabilia .....the stubborn old buggas have it stored at home & won't part with it .....don't ya hate that

G'day Mark, The ambiance of that old dealership, and the local pub, helped convince me Beverley was the perfect area for a Vintage Caravan Museum ;D ;D. In fact you should get in good with those two old blokes and get hold of that building one day, it would make the perfect location for the museum. I have spent ages looking for a bit of paper I have showing that tow bar setup for FX/FJ'S, can't remember if it was in a motor magazine (which I expect it was) or a Nasco accessories book. "Back then" it was the suggested way of doing it. Cobber.

Gilbarco, now making fuel pumps an assorted fuel paraphanelia, used to make bits for Holden so dont overlook their brochures if you see them, When I was Younger,a neighbour worked for them and carried Nasco as well.
