Hi I have a old van, new to me, I've been plodding away at but have found the bottom rail in front of the door and rear bottom rail behind the wheel don't line up. I think the chassis must be cracked as when i lifted the rear of the van with my forklift to put blocks under it the string line seemed perfect. I wish I had found this at the beginning of the weekend and not the end as I had rebuilt the doorjamb and will now have to pull that out and do it again. But first I need to find the crack or the source of the problem. Any advice here would be great, thanks.

Welcome to the forum.
It really sounds like you have a problem that can't really be solved without seeing what you are talking about. If it come to that you may need to refer it to someone who has experience with this sort of problem. Hopefully member hughdeany may see this thread and comment on it. He has many years of experience in the caravan industry.

Thanks Rooehm
Yeah I think I'll have to put it over a pit and look over the chassis with a fine tooth comb. Luckily I have a lot of welding experience and is part of my job so not daunting just really annoying. I wonder about the after market bar and two spare wheels mounted to the back of the van? This extra weight could significantly upset the weight carrying capacity of the small angle iron chassis. It did a lot of kilometres back in the day, all over WA and NT. On it goes. What I thought might be a re-hang of the door is looking more like ground up rebuild.
