I have two cars in my yard for the big trip when the 59 Chesney is back to her former glory, both will share tow duties, the first is a1962 XK Falcon 68K orig miles found on Mt Stanley Station Qld. This car is so original it hurt to change the oil and filter. The first wash since 1986 and resto done, I wish !! Here is one I prepared earlier, for my wife bless her, a 68 HK Holden, all done at home. A motor change to a Valiant/Chrysler Charger 265 Hemi is quite a performance upgrade from the old Holden red. Here is the current hero behind my towing heavy things, my 78 Ford XC panel van, 302 V8 and all upgrades for that year that I can find. I have a twin headlight grill since this Pic at Wandai Qld. I am preparing her for paint and I am thinking Ford Sundowner colours see you on the road , Dave

Nice cars Dave ........ I'm a Holden man, but the old Falc's a rippa .....its great to find stockers like that with that dusty "barn shed" look ....... the photos indicate it doesn't need much resto at all cheers Mark

Hi Mark, The only repair needed is the front bumper and bonnet where the last owner hit a post. I was lucky to find a 61 XK with a true 3000 odd K on the clock that had been T boned when quite new and put in the back of a farm shed. I now have a mint bonnet and bumpers as well as a ute load of everything I could drag home. I also found an XT rusted out till you could see thru it but with a mint motor and all parts mechanical as new. This is why I will take the Xk round Aus as any parts are only a phone call and a train or bus ride away. On the Holden side , my first choice in cars I have the HK sedan, a ute and a HK panel van as well I have a bloody good unrestored HR, Oh, as well, He said quietly, I have a mint 38000 Mile Hillman Minx ADL, my first pommy car. I collect any thing old in cars and am only held back by She Who Must Be Obeyed, Bye for now, see ya on the road Dave

Dave, as a Ford nut, I must say what a great example of Ford -OZ history that XK is. I assume from your post it will not be getting a respray?
Original is the way to go if ya can - warts 'n' all (that's if there are any)
Imagine parking a bent Falc in the shed on the farm for 40+ years - wow.
Green - with - envy ;D
Cheers,
Gristy
PS great Sundowner pics - if you like old brochures - I got a few XW ones (and cortina fairlane, etc same era), including GT - happy to scan and email, just let me know.

yeah ......I gotta agree with Gristy ......original is the ONLY way to go with your XK ......she's too good too mess with Dave says "I collect any thing old in cars and am only held back by She Who Must Be Obeyed," I have the opposite problem Dave, Ditzy encourages me to buy, instead of holding me back ....thats bloody dangerous with me When I met her four years ago, I had four treasured Holdens and a VK Brocky. Since then she's talked me into buying two Chevs, she purchased the Brocky off me, bought herself a Compact Fairylane, & her latest purchase is a FC Van. Thats all good, but when it comes to maintaining, servicing and driving the cars (to stop em seizing up) Ditzy is nowhere to be seen All that seems to be my problem ;D ;D Mark

To Dave & Tina Pitts, I'm rather exited to have stumbled across this site and this thread in particular. I would love to discuss your HK and the Hemi conversion as i'm building up my Lady's HKGTS Monaro and intend on using a 265 Hemi (plus toploader and 9"). Please send me an email to pam.dusty at bigpond dot com (just fix the antispam changes). I'd much appreciate hearing from you. P.s. Sweet XK you found
