G'day all, great to be a part of the forum My name is Peter and I am 40 and from a small town near Avoca, Victoria. I have spent a great amount of time reading through the forum and can see it is a great resource and wealth of knowledge! I have been contemplating a classic van to tow behind one of my trusty old Valiants: I bloke local to me has just offered me what I beleive to be a late 60s Franklin or Coronet. I have been on here and on the facebook groups trying to positively ID it. It looks like a lot of Franklin vans however the radius at the front and rear peaks seems to be shaped markedly different than most I see pictured. I'm not sure how much variation there is. The front panel and window treatment definitely appears to be Franklin or coronet, there are no badges or decals to be seen. Pics here: I am going back in a couple of days for a 2nd inspection once the interior has been emptied out, will check drawbar for Chassis # then. It seems very original and un-messed with, despite water damage. I am not sure if this is a 'sandwich panel' van as the pattern of wood screws on the exterior would indicate to me a timber frame, but of course I could be wrong. Any advice appreciated on make/model etc would be greatly appreciated, I am quite sure I am going to buy the van so hopefully much more to come! Thanks Peter

Hi Junkafide, This van is a Coronet 15x7 wooden framed mid 60s. If you look under Coronet in the Down History Lane section you will find more info and pics. Have a VERY good look along the chassis and particularly under the A frame,a known spot for rust even if not by the sea. Hope this helps Cheers hughdeany

I will be taking a leadlight and a trolley jack on Friday and going over it with a fine tooth comb, I will focus on the areas you have mentioned, Thanks very much ! Peter

Well she came home today. It was very cheap which is reflected in the condition, evidently was a local Caravan at least since 1980, which pre-dates my existence! Chassis number is 1993, not sure if this helps with dating it? Peter
