Hi all I want to convert my couch/bed to a cafe dinette where the table top goes down between the sitting cushions to form part of the bed base for the remaining cushions. I've seen various ways of doing this but am looking for forum input and ideas on what you might have that's simple/cheap to make and works without major effort. If you have a pic or two, so much the better! Cheers

Hi Ray, Our van is a 72 TravelHome which had this setup when we got it. It has a bit of aluminium angle on each side that the tabletop sits on to create the bed. Have used it for grandkids and works well.

That's what I'm looking at. Would it be possible to see pics of the wall fitting please?

Hi Roehm,
The dinette seats in our van are made with a 'ledge' on the table side edge of the seat base. The table then just drops down between the two seats and sits on the ledge either side. The leg of the table folds inwards and clips on to a catch on the underside of the table. A pretty simple idea and wouldn't be hard to make I don't think.
I'm not very good at explaining something a bit technical like that, but I can show you some pics if that helps. I think it's basically the same idea as Nickd's table.

We bought a kit, I think it was from Jayco but memory has faded in 7 years, If not it would have been Carac in Dandenong. It consists of the channel that you see on the wall and two plastic locks that screw to the bottom of the table. These enable the table to be moved sideways on the channel and to lock into position. Removal is a matter of pushing the lock button and tilting the table upwards slightly. Replacing is the reverse. Unfortunately I don't have a photo of the lock piece

Thanks for your input DonR and Nickd Here are pics of the table I am trying to utilise and the arm fitting that swings up/down to eating/sleeping levels. Unfortunately there are some bits missing for the section that attaches to the wall, so I have to think around that a bit. DonR - I would really appreciate a pic of the wall section of the fitting, if you wouldn't mind. Nickd. is that a sail track on the wall? Would you mind showing me a pic of the bit that sits at the end of the tabletop which goes into this track.

Hi Rohem, it appears that you are missing one of the brackets to the wall, you could use the bracket you have on the centre of the swing arm and use pipe saddles on the outsides, they look pretty crude but would only be seen when the table is in the bed position, i take it that the ply will be bearing on the seats?

Not in a position to get a photo till week after next. Google Table Bracket on the Camec site. The kit is there and shows all components. The track is part of the kit.

Hi Stevefranklin. I think I'll use lift-off hinges at the wall end with some sort of stopper to prevent it accidentally sliding out during travel.
nickd, don't worry about taking pics, I have checked the fitting out on caravansplus site and now know what you're talking about. Thanks!
