Hi guys. Looking for a bit of advise on my van reno. The roof is shot and i will replace it shortly with 1/4 marine ply and Ali sheet over. As it is now, only i want to install a couple of roof joists for support, it has none.. and in the process put 20mm foam board insulation in and an internal 3mm ply skin to finish. I can go 2 ways. 1st is to drop the joists below existing roof finished level. This means cutting down all the oh cupboards and worse, losing an inch of headroom.. 2nd method is to install joists on top of wall plate which will leave finished ceiling height as is Internally, but lifts the outside roof level up 25mm. Problem with this method is my ali side sheets wont quite lap over the new roof level. So i was wondering if there is a DEEPER not wider j moulding, say 40 mm deep available just for the new roof line to cover. I have already tried bending 40x20 ali from bunnings in my stretcher/shrinker but it is WAY too hard to shrink.. Open to any sugestions and TIA.. Ian.

If your side sheets are 25mm short, why not have longer roof Ali and fold it over the sides walls - which is what you should be doing for drainage? If necessary you could insert a piece of beading in that gap, before the Ali covering.
