Thanks for that link. Most interesting to see the cavalcade of US "RV's" and the way they paralleled caravan development in Australia over that same period (more or less). Assuming that some of the captions to the photos are correct, a number of "the first this or that" were often being built within a few months of the "the first" in Australia (and often 10 or 15 years after the UK!).
I was intrigued that first actual caravans (as distinct from motor homes or camper/tent trailers) in the slide show are from 1935, whereas there were some being built in the US in the late 20's.
I was also interested to be reminded about how 'coach-style' caravans were the dominant style in the US for a number of years, but never really took off in a big way in Australia (although a few Australian manufacturers did build a few in that style, and at least one enterprising bloke tried importing them from the US, but without any success).
