Hi all After all the options where weighed up for my next tow car. The holden won over the F250 project. I would like to introduce those of you that didn’t see the ute when it was on eBay to……. Fast Eddie EK And a photo of when Fast Eddie EK met the love of his life “Matilda splinters” they had a lovely day by the lake with old uncle Reddo But that “Bloody Kangaroo” turned up again and ruined any chances of Eddie scoring with sweet “Matilda Splinters “ . Eddie spat the dummy and said he wouldn’t tow Matilda to Morgan… The engagement is off , so it looks like Tom Turbo Toyota Landcrab 4 X4 will be sweeping Matilda off her feet and carting her to South Australia for a drunken week or so, What a pity they looked such a happy couple. Reddo.

Hi Col eddie is fast ... he just cant jump the hurdles with Matilda on his back. Built for sprints not cross country marathons. Got home from Morgan . Glad to get out from behind the wheel of Turbo tom Toyota and drag Eddie EK out for a few hot laps around the neighbourhood. After spending hours on end travelling home in the ToJo i got to thinkin i dont get away fishin much anymore and I might pension it off and shop for another early holden wagon tow car to share the pad with Eddie EK. Perhaps a HG or maybe a "late model " HZ premier with a 253 V8 would be nice. Go here to place your bids cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4634802548&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1 Comes up Ok with a bit of a scrub dont she .

Yeah Col We took the Studie for a cruise out towards Silverton. 1st gear 5mph, 2nd=10mph, 3rd= 20mph and the optional 4th gear= 40mph flat out. stopped and steered OK and the body is in excellent condition. Bill is asking $12,000 . It would be cheaper to finish of the Eff250 than to try and get some speed under the Studebaker.
i will post some pix of the truck under for sales ... someone might be keen on it.
Cheers mate

Yeah Col All those options went through my melon on the way home from broken hill. Higher diff ratios.front end and back end options ( can get F100 with all running gear except motor for $500) 250 falcon or some other long stroked 6 cyl with C4. etc, etc. I see a 1947 Chev pick up on L/cruiser chassis ( sits fairly high might be 4X4 ) running commodore V6 and auto advertised near gosford which is about 1/2 hour south of me. might have a look this weekend to kill a few hours. I think its around $16,000
Shopping can be just as much fun as owning . at least ya get to drive these contraptions .

Hiya I have just bought a set of 14" salt lake moon hubcaps for Eddy. I tried everywhere for 13" but "No Go". Once i got the caps home i realised i was gunna need rims... welllll durrrrr stupid... 14 doesnt go inta 13. At first i tried standard 14" HK rims but they are widened too far inwards. managed to track down a set of old 14" chrome steel 7" rims . i think they where called "Elstars" years ago. Came with 4 - 225/65/14s. bolted 'em up and Ed ended up looking like a 4x4 off road buggy. took it for a drive and ... hell what a difference to the steering. even with 225s on 7" rims it was heaps lighter and easier to steer than the 205/60/13 on 6" dragways. the offset on the 14s is no where near as much as the 13s so the steering is just soooooo much easier. front 2 where retreads so i doddled off to the local tyere bloke and we fitted 2 - 195/ 60/ 14s which improved the sterring even more. They are 40mm smaller in rolling diameter so the ute still sits with a slight nose down appearance. By now everyone will be screaming that the thing will be slow off the lights with a 3.36 diff and 14" tyres. True it is slightly slower and i do find myself feathering the clutch a bit longer than i should but once i am up and rolling on the open road you can really notice the reduction in cabin noise which is due to the lower engine revs. cruises happily at anindicated 60mph which i suspect is closer to 70mph with the bigger rolling doianmeter of the wheels. Things should improve even more once the 5 speed goes in. i should be able to hurry things up a bit off the lights and once i get enough steam to drop into 5th it should be happy at 60 to 70mph at hopefully around 2500 rpm. next arguement i will get is the old greys dont put out enough punch to hold 5th gear. i reckon this old girl with twin carbs and headers will manage ok. Towing matilda.... wellllll might have to stay in 4th or refit the 13" wheels for the longer towing trips eh' Have just ordered a set of 14" whitewalls ( better known as "flappers") from Johns rod and custom shop. again i have heard good reports and bad about these things. can chew the sidewalls of radial tyres. go yellow after a while, flap when the wind gets under them. Will give em a try... at least once. The wheels look to plain with just a black tyre and a polisjhed alloy cap. needed something to break it up a bit. when i get rich i might order a full set of new tyres from John cain and be done with the problem. 'eres Ed with his new joggers on........ Going for his annual medical today. as soon as if he passes fit for rego i will renwe it and he will be coming home to get his front end torn out and the floor hacked away so we can get on with the disc brake front end and 5 speeder with buckets of seats conversion.... I hope. Cheers youall Reddo

Hi All Just got the "flappers" from Johns rod and custom shop. i had 195/60/14s on the front on 7" rims. Which meant that the shoulders of the tyres rolled over instead of standing up at right angles to the rims. When we fitted the whitewalls they sat about 10/12 mm of the tyre wall and looked like shit. So i headed back to the tyre service and exchanged the 195s for 215s. I thought the sterering would have been heavy with the wider tyre but the rims are almost "centred " widen out as much as in so it actually steers better than with the 13" dragways on. They dont rub on anything and the whole thing looks like a bloody $X$ now. Dont care its a lot smoother to ride in and will be a better car once the 5 speed goes in. Will play with diff ratios later. Also made a bit of progress on the TD. Just about got everything in the kitchen including the wiring. finished bogging up and sanding a few hills and hollows then 2 coats of oil based white primer/undercoat went on. sit high on 17" X 5.50 tyres. But sorta matches up Ok with the ute Bloody cattledog managed to get his head in the picture again!!! .Other news. The bloke that delivered my 1915 Triumph arrived on my doorstep from Glenrowan right on 5 pm Tuesday as me and Luke where headin for the pub for a coupla schooyes and the social club members draw. The driver got yarnin with me and it took till 25 past 5 to shake him off. As we pulled up at the pub. The publican had just drawn the members lucky number. It was me... Number 28. If i had been 1 minute earlier i would have had $700 extra in my wallet..... OOOOOOO bugger. Bloody truck drivers. Anyway i am happy with the bike. Hope to fit it on the ute and take it to Motorfest along with matilda. Here she is.... About 6 levers on the handlebars .. Gunna take some gettin use to. No front brakes and a block of wood wedges in the rear rim for brakes at the back. I will either master it early or you will read about me disappearing under a Kenworth at 50mph. Wish me luck Reddo

Hey Reddo The white walls look great, I had a set on the Hearse, but lost half of them on the way to a camping trip down the coast last year, I think the problem was that I had a big load in the back of the Hearse, and the ovwrall weight took it's toll on the flappers. The teardrop looks great, Did you get the disc I sent you with the shots of Fast Eddie. See ya on Australia Day, Paul.

I reckon you would fall off a good woman let alone try and throw a leg over something as highly strung as a 1915 Trumpy...... ;D Show us your tatts You old bikey Yeeeeehhhhhaaaaaaa Ok.. ya can sit on it at motorfest and make gurgling noises like a mowtaboik. I will just tell everyone you are my shell shocked great grandad reliving past glorys ;D. The army gave these things to the DRs ( dispatch riders) during ww1. By the time ya coax them into starting you could have ran to London from any battlefield in the world and delivered the mail. Only way to make 'em stop in a hurry was to stick your bayonet ( or sandshoe) through the front spokes. Would have had to learn how to ride side saddle too. The Gerrys would have had plenty of time to line ya up in thier sights and blow ya nuts orf!!!!. Looks like the tailgate might havta come orf the Yoot if i'm gunna bring it to Sidley. Curse you short draw bar and quick release coupling handle. ReddontgethitbyKWs
