G'day All,
I'm wondering could anyone help ID this van? It's apparently a 1977 Jayco by the rego papers but it's a 5 digit "VIN"and i can't for the life of my find a van similar with the Telescopic pop top roof.

Hi Dayses, Wasn’t this answered for you last week on fb?It is a Jayco, but they used chassis numbers not vin numbers, vins are 17 digits and letters long and weren’t in use until 1989. vins are used on older vans when the chassis number is unreadable or non existent. cheers hughdeany

Hi again, Ok,there must be an identical one getting around! It is a 1977-78 Jayco pop top that used a camper trailer windup system to raise the roof, they were called Jayco Songbirds then Jayco Jayflight, depending on the model. They were the first pop tops Jayco started building and lasted till about 1982. First thing to do is get the windup system checked by someone who knows what they are doing, nothing worse than the system breaking when you least expect it! Hope this helps Cheers hughdeany

Hi, I have recently purchased a very similar van, it also has a 5 digit vin, I have been told it is a Jayco Jay flight made In the late 70’s early 80’s. I was hoping you still have this van as my van is completely gutted and was purchased with a new skirt, I’m trying to find photos of how it attached both top and bottom and weather the poles are on the inside or outside, thanks Liam
