Hi guys I'm after info on my van. I've called Service Aus and asked them but I need to be sure as there is no rego papers or plates. On the draw bar there is V425 that's all. Service Aus said that's all I need but I'm a bit dubious it and I'm about to spend a fair bit of cash on her so I need to be certain. Any help appreciated. Cheers

G’day Drew, Welcome to the forum. Viscount used ‘V’ serial numbers for two different models over the years, and I just wanted to clarify what model yours is. During the early 60’s, Viscount used the ‘V’ prefix for Viscount (as opposed to Valiant) models built in its Victorian factory. If your van is one of those, then V425 would indicate a 1962 Viscount. However, just to confuse us, in the early 70’s, Viscount used the ‘V’ prefix for its Valiant models. If your van is one of those, then V425 would indicate a 1972 Valiant. None of this really answers your question about registration, except that it may provide you with a build year which you will need when re-registering the van. Are you able to post some photos of your van? If you can, we may be able to help you identify the van (although possibly you have got enough info from the above). There are instructions on how to post photos on the forum if you click here. As Shesgotthelook has implied, the registration requirements differ from state to state. But the serial number you have may indeed be all that you need, plus making sure that a few basics are in place (lights working, etc). Don Ricardo
