Hi Guys,
I recently bought a 1940's rare Caravan from as lovely lady In Sydney. I also live in Sydney. The skin is all plywood and i am looking at restoring it and placing a Polished Aluminum skin on it.
I wouldn't have a clue where to start looking for suppliers of this material, perhaps somebody out there can also do it for you ???
Any information on this would be great.
Regards, stevemarty

G’day Stevemarty, welcome to the forum (truly). Don’t take Mr. Reddo seriously mate... he’s all talk, and besides he lives a long way away in Newcastle. Me, on the other hand, am “Vice President of the Royal Society for the Preservation of Bondwood caravans” and I live in Sydney and my sentiments are much the same as Mr Reddo's. 1940’s caravans are as rare as the proverbial and many people on this forum would give their eye teeth to get hold of one and RESTORE it to it's former glory. If it has a frame good enough to put aluminium on it has a frame good enough to put plywood on.... do the right thing and you will get all the help this forum can give you Does your van have a brand name on it ?? Best wishes, Cobber.

Thanks Reddo, Cobber & Roehm,
Wow you guys are great!. To be honest I've Been talking to a few people and much of the feedback has been the same as yours. sooooo.... you should all take credit and be proud of yourselves for saving another vintage wood caravan from extinction. I'm definitely going to keep it original now. To be honest i didn't realise the value or just how rare it was until recently.
It's a home made 1940's and i just got it registered yesterday which i really excited about. This baby is going to be hauled a lot.
if somebody can explain how to load a picture of it on this forum or to my profile I'll be happy to do it. I have the picture on my computer but can't work out how to upload it to my profile?
Blue Skies, Stevemarty
