Hello Everyone,
First off thanks to all that have supplied the incredibly helpful information posted here. Man what a resource!
I am a new member who is about to start the restoration of a what I have been told is a late 1950's Globetrotter. It looks identical to the one on the cover of the Cold Chisel Circus Animals album. Well it could do if I manage the restoration ok.
I have had most of my questions answered by trolling through all of the topics in this tech stuff section (and had a ton of good belly laughs ) but was still left with a question before I start and was hoping that someone could help me out.
The van seem to be made up of 20mm sides, 6mm roof and masonite on the rounded front and rear sections.
Could I replace the masonite sections with a thin ply and if so what thickness would be recommended that would bend into the shape ok. I also thought that ply might support the front and rear windows better than the masonite?
I am currently building the appropriate 1950's style carport to house the beast and will post photos when said carport finished and beast in residence.
cheers
Ray
