2019 Historic Leyburn Sprints Vintage Vans 17-18th August

The Historic Leyburn Sprints is on again in August this year.

Now in its sixth year in 2019, the Vintage Caravan Display has proven to be very popular with caravan and car enthusiasts alike.

Vintage/Classic Caravan owners have the opportunity to camp behind the Leyburn Hotel and be on display for the two day event. This puts you in a prime spot to enjoy the motor racing, market stalls and annual Show and Shine.


It really is a fun weekend with food stalls, great pub meals, communal fire pit (bring some wood to share) and clean amenities.

Please note the sites are not powered and it gets cold out there at night, so bring your Winter Woollies.

Roll in on Friday 16th or early Saturday 17th August, display your caravan/car all weekend, best dressed (optional) and caravan competition on Saturday 17th (small prizes on offer). You are also welcome to camp extra nights by arrangement.

Cost: $10 per caravan site for the whole weekend
         $30 per adult Leyburn Sprints entry

Come along and relax in friendly surroundings, make new friends and catch up with old!
Proceeds from the weekend go back into the Leyburn community

Hi Everyone,

Still a couple of caravan sites available if you are thinking about attending and displaying your vintage caravan.

Come along and relax in friendly surroundings all while the races go on around you. Make some new friends and catch up with old! Proceeds from the weekend go back into the Leyburn and surrounds communities.

Popular celebrity drivers from the 60s, 70s and 80s, including Dick Johnson, Kevin Bartlett, Colin Bond, John French and Fred Gibson will be attending with their wives who will be judging the vintage caravan Show and Shine.

The public camping is apparently sold out, as with the competing car entries.

A friend was speaking with a local fireman, he suggested that there would be no personal fires due to the dryness.

Should we still bring a bag of wood for a fire behind the pub?

Leyburn Historic Sprints were again sold out.

Regardless of the restrictions the hippies keep turning up!!!


Fire bans were firmly in place!!!


To win a trophy for best car & van it is very competitive,




Elvis & Bob Marley with partners dropped in to sing a few songs.


Cars from every era grace the track, there is always something different at Leyburn.


Vintage & Classic caravans have priority camping behind the hotel, with showers & toilets,weather was tops, thank you Sandy & Bob for organizing again.
Thousands of Dollars was raised for the local primary schools.

Thanks for the great photos Brent and thank you to everyone who attended this year. It is the wonderful group of Vintage Van enthusiasts that come along and make this get together so enjoyable. We really couldn't be in a better spot to take in the Historic Sprints.
