We are now again legitimate members as we have purchased a "Sunliner by Waldens" one of five to exist, amount made unknown. As it was retrieved from the rain forest near Coffs Harbour. What a difference a day makes!! below image. Photo enhances the actual body condition!!! Lots of work done but lots to do!!!! It will one day be a Rose again, Cheers Brent & Colleen

Great find! Is it a 16 footer or is that a photo illusion?

What a find. Congratulations. You're in the right forum to restore a Sunliner. A lot of very experienced people here.
But a question from a lowly Franklin aficionado, what is the difference in a Walden Sunliner as opposed to any other Sunliner?

Hi Mustang and Grandad. Mustang - Very nice pick up. It will be great to see the restoration. Grandad - The answer to your question is the length (14 ft 6 in), some of the internal fittings, and some changes to the external mouldings. The most immediate identifying feature (apart from the length) is the full length waist line along the sides. We have lots of questions still about the Walden Sunliners, but there's some info about what we do know here. Don Ricardo

I have searched "search" without success for 10mm offset butterfly hinges? A while back a member here found some for half the price of regular sellers. I need 60 & my best quote is $2.25 each? Cheers Brent

Hi Cobber, Sadly none of the sites listed have 10mm off set butterfly hinges.

Good Friends "Bluebird" put us onto a rubber that might suit the Sunliner "Fixed" windows. It is from Windscreens O'Brian & the part number is 520076. The rubber turns the radius beautifully without puckering, the stiffener strip is attached & one side of the flap is generous which allows fitting without special tools. We fitted one side with cord & one without, its neater to fit the rubber to the caravan frame then insert the window to the rubber. I used poly Acrycast 3mm instead of glass.
An unexpected job to be completed before the rain!!

The major rain event here in SE Qld has put a hold on any sealing & painting, so a bit of creative work has come ahead of schedule. The Brake & stop light & number plate holder. The number plate light came from a friends abandoned Mini in a paddock, I love it when you can re-cycle an item like this back to a useful product. The Poms chrome is superior. y Now to make it work: The front cupboard at the doorway area either had to go or be rebuilt, as the basis was glued & glassed I decided to make an open area, angled to protect the head. BEFORE: AFTER: Looking for something like suede to glue over the insulation.

Seems the weather event is starting to dry up, so I'm back to painting the house interior. Before I have a break from Wally I made these tail assembly's today, rather than drilling 6 x 50mm holes in the van (due to the lights not being a flush fit) They are contoured to fit around the rear corners. The boxes made from Marine Ply, glued & brass screwed will be smoothed off & painted.

Visitors think funny things when they see the Walden, like the windows will stay as they are?? so as an example I pulled one of the windows out, repaired and polished it. 51 Years of GUNK!! Comparison to Before & After:
Now I want them all done!

Its been a while since this old girl showed some light: All the remaining windows are removed for polishing. A heat wave in Qld at the moment is a good excuse to have a break.

Framing & insulation taking shape. 12v all done, bitumen coating the underside & repainting the chassis this week, almost too muggy to work.

And I thought I was slowing up because I was getting older, Mustang. The weather sure has been crappy for any of this sort of work. Can't even paint! You're doing well, all things considered!

Hi Roehm, Looking for jobs that are not affected by humidity??? I've got heaps waiting on paint. So its polishing windows, 6 down 2 to go.

Hi Brent. Coming along nicely there. They certainly are a labour of love aren't they? You are going to end up with a very special Sunny when its completed.......best of both worlds....half way between a 16 footer and 13 footer !!!
Enjoying your progress pics greatly. Can fully appreciate the time and effort you're putting into it. Thanks for posting.
Regards Clyde.

As the year closes on 2018 , we are on a nice return to the Walden re-build. Some images to finish the year off, all underside bitumen coating is completed, brakes wired, chassis painted, draw bar, wheels painted, sink fitted, expensive tap ($$$$) & plumbing all done, all windows polished & temporarily fitted. Lots of painting to be done, in & out, but now the Walden is roadworthy. Spare wheel will go under one bed, no tool box, only level riders to keep the front clean. Wheel colour is now light green. Back working on the inner/outer doors. Not much different to our modern Ro adstar White screen door closed & black outer door open, 51 years on the Walden door lower right. same concept.
