I would guesstimate approx 1100kg......1300kg laden with all your goods and chattels....clothes/bedding/ food/ water/ utensils etc....ready to travel.

I agree with Sutcac. Just one comment though, i think that your proposed Honda tow car may be a bit small. Towing capacity is a bit on the low side and it will use a lot of fuel. koala

Legally you may be within the recommended margins of towing this caravan, but I agree with koala, the engine of the Honda is underpowered for the job. It produces 240nm of torque (the important towing power). Far better to go for a diesel drive-train. My Mazda CX5 diesel produces 420nm of torque and comfortably towed a 15ft modern van to WA and back without any problem.

I would seriously reconsider your choice of tow vehicle for this weight van.. While it is within the weight parameters, it will definitely struggle to perform successfully/safely in a number of areas.

On top of weight and power issues(or lack thereof)for my money it’s got to be rear or all wheel drive. Stuns me the number of front wheel drive tow cars I see...accident waiting to happen! Jenno

i tow my Sunliner with a Pontiac Bonneville 1960 coupe , 389 ci and the same 4 speed hydromatic that your Cadillac will have and it is fantastic that very low first gear is great .

During a couple of years of madness in the late 80's I had a '68 Caddy for a while. it was like riding a boat on the road, glided along with a bonnet as long as a Datsun 180B in front of me. I attribute my partial deafness to the roar of fuel rushing through the lines. 8 mpg on a good day, unfortunately my close proximity to work at the time found the five minute drive costing me - just 4 mpg!! I moved into a new house and if I wanted carpet beneath my feet I had to go and sit in the Caddy. The sale provided the new floor coverings, but I do miss it at times.
