Hi All , I have bought this van and am trying to Identify it before registering it. The person I bought it off has a piece of paper they used to transport it from Victoria to QLD and had Korang 1963 on it. I have searched but not found any vans that were made by that name. Any assistance in identifying it would be very help full. Thanks in advance. www.flickr.com/photos/154767261@N04/27794239319/

Hello & welcome. That is an unusual looking van. Try searching Korong rather than Korang which was a company in Bendigo. Although it looks more like a Carefree build or similar to me.

Hi Historicvan,
Just adding to what Shesgotthelook has told you, it looks to me as if the van has been 'updated' at some point. I reckon that it is a 50's bondwood van that has been re-clad with aluminium (based on the way it's been done), and some aluminium framed windows added to possibly replace some wood framed windows. If you look under the cladding or inside some of the cupboards, you may even see the bondwood underneath.
The front windows are quite unusual, in the sense that they look like a couple of side type windows which have been used to replace what may have been two windows that were not as deep, or a single but wider window.
I can't quite put my finger on who may have built the van because of the later changes, but as Shesgotthelook has intimated, it seems that it was sold as a second hand van at some stage by Korong Caravans in Bendigo, hence what was on the paperwork. But it wouldn't have been built by Korong in the first place, because they were exclusively a used caravan dealer who put their own brand on vans, irrespective of who the vans had been built by.

Hello & welcome Streets. Registration ease or difficulty is very dependent on what state you live in. Also, if you can figure out how to load a photo we may be able to help you more easily. With older vans, that welded number on your drawbar is the chassis number. Regards, SGTL vintagecaravans.proboards.com/thread/16409/post-photos-on-forum
