We only have three vans now, we sold the little one. Hopefully in the future, when the Sunliner is all done we will downsize to just one van. We actually have four cars ATM LOL. We brought a little car to teach Jarvis to drive as he's just gotten his Learners permit, but we'll have to wait until his broken leg heals before he can sit in the drivers seat. So you have downsized too with the sale of the Kennedy I see? Monica

That's a very neat van, congratulations! The van is currently unregistered. We have joined the Classic Car Club Illawarra and we are going to register it as a Historic Vehicle. I was wondering if it was possible to do something like that, I'm keen to know if you're successful.

It'll be a great saving for us, reducing the registration from over $200 to just $22 for the year. There are restrictions on how often you can use the van but. You an use it for official club runs and events and then there is a maximum of 60 something days per year. However this suits us as we are a working couple with teenagers, unfortunately we don't have a lot of time for trips away at the moment. All the information about historic registration in NSW can be found on the NSW Service Centre's website. Our new club does their inspections for historic registration in bulk. They're having a day in early June so our van won't be registered until after this day. I will let you know how we go. In the meantime, if it's something you're still interested in, go for it Good luck, Monica

The van we brought in QLD cost $80 to register in Queensland and just under $200 in NSW! Its bizarre on the differences in rego between states isn't it.

Here you can use your vechicle for 90 days per year, controlled by a log book system. Not sure how much, but if I can get both the Van and my HZ Wagon on it we could save a heap on rego.

We pay over $200 for Vincent, & over $1000.00 for the Mustang. (Not too cheap, me thinks) Restricted rego is just that, way too restrictive. No club rego for vans, we would love 60 days on cars & vans!!!!

No club rego for vans, we would love 60 days on cars & vans!!!! Hi Mustang and BlueBird, I'm happy to invite you all to come and live in Victoria. Full registration for the van is $56.90 a year! Just don't tell our state government what a bargain they're giving us compared to other states - they might decide to up it!. You can register a caravan under the 'club permit' scheme in Victoria, but the cost is $47.50 for 90 days use per year or $25.20 for 45 days, so not a huge saving on full registration and you don't have the club permit restrictions. (In contrast, the club permit fees for vehicles are $145.40 for 90 days and $74.70 for 45 days, so quite a big saving on full rego.) Don Ricardo

Apparently (reported in a caravan magazine) the incoming Minister for Transport for NSW promised to bring NSW caravan/trailer rego into line with other states, when the fees were reviewed the cost/loss to the state was more than they were prepared to give back??

Hi all, I am glad to report that our 1960 Sunliner passed the inspection at our car cub and is now registered in NSW as a Historic Vehicle. The process was really quite easy and the rego is so much cheaper! We had to pay $66 for the year which is made up of $44 for the numberplate and $22 for the rego. Every year from now on, the rego will be just $22. There are some restrictions on how often you can use the van and you have to complete a log book/sheet, but if you don't use the van that often i think it's great. Our car club is also very supportive of us using the Vintage Caravan and has agreed to add VV gatherings to their Event Calendars so this use won't count towards private use. The only thing we need to do now is work our how to fix the small Historic Number Plate to the van
