An upcoming potential purchase of another Van, means a reluctant sale of my rare Don 150. Believed by some on the Forum, to be the only known one of its type in Australia, means a wonderful example of Vintage Caravan history is for sale.
The Don was built in 1956, and the Australian Motor Manual of 15th June 1956, says the following;
"Round-edged corners give that extra something. The seven opening windows are of chrome plated brass. The interior decor of this new "Don" has a pleasing effect
as one steps int the van. The one we inspected was designed by Miss Beryl Hutchinson, house interior specialist. She chose grey and sky blue as the main theme, using grey walls,
furniture, bench tops, the ceiling is sky blue with deep blue for tapestry covers and carpet. The window curtains are of red and white stripe glazed chintz, also on the dividing drapes.
The bath is placed under one of the single beds; this can be used for additional storage".
The previous owner has advised the following have been carried out -:
* new axle fitted
* with 10" Dexter electric brakes
* new tyres fitted
* existing ball mount removed (but still available)
* new 2000kg coupling bolted to new plate
* two new safety chains fitted
* all gas lines to fridge and stove replaced where need to meet NSW certification regulations
* new 15 amp power inlet fitted
* PCB main circuit breaker fitted
* Primer undercoat, two undercoats, finished with 2 coats of oil based enamel in original colours
* and more
I have owned the Don for 3 and a bit years and during that time she has always been fully garaged and on blocks.
She tows beautifully and we have used her for 4-5 times for Vintage Van outings etc.
There is an awning included, but it is not an original.
Her overall condition, to the best of my knowledge, would be 8-9 out of 10
Cal me if you need more photos/information etc
Garaged on Mornington Peninsula (Vic)
If you have any questions, my number is 0417 319 570
