Sold on eBay for..... $406.50
CLASSIC VINTAGE 1966/67 FRANKLIN CARAVAN
Great classic shape FRANKLIN CARAVELLE - Bought as a project that has never happened due to time restraints. Does need some work to bring it back to it's former glory.
Has water damage to the right rear corner - the cladding and some of the damaged frame has been removed. The outside of this corner is taped (as we removed to seal/silicone) but the original aluminum corner piece is intact and will be inside van.
I suspect the other rear corner may be in a similar state, the two front corners do not look as bad but have some water damage also. Parts of the roof have been patched up badly by a previous owner and several panels of the ceiling would also need to be replaced due to water damage.
2 rear side windows are cracked (see pics) and the window winding mechanisms are rusty.
The door has a flywire door inside it but I have not been able to unlock the aluminum door from it.
It has the original table and cabinetry which is in pretty good shape.
There is no fridge or stove - the gas line and water tank/line are there but have not been tested.
All the electrics appear to work.
Overall the inside is fairly shabby and will require a decent amount of work to fix/repair but it has the potential to be such a cute little van if you have the time and patience it could be great again!
The outside is pretty good for it's age... it has a few dints and scratches which I have tried to include in the photos - please have a close look.
It was towed to it's current location just over a year ago with no problems. However, due to the removal of some framing from the rear and general lack of knowledge about the underneath (though it all seems OK - some surface rust) I would recommend picking it up on a flat bed trailer to ensure it gets home safely. Obviously is it not registered.
Please look at the photos carefully, I have tried to include the major issues/fix up points with this van but also give a general impression of it's state and potential. If you have any questions please ask!
The caravan is located in Walkerville VIC which is 2.5 hours drive south east of Melbourne. It must be picked up within 3 weeks of auction end.
*This is a relisted item - please look Walkerville up on a map and only bid if you can commit to picking the van up within 3 weeks of auction end*
NO RESERVE! GOOD LUCK!!
