I am looking for a gas fitter in Adelaide to install the gas in my van. I found one on Gumtree, he came and seemed like a nice young tradie so I was glad to put some work his way.
He sent me the quote via SMS and it was $990, to which I advised him that the budget wouldn't cover that so I would get other quotes. Lo and behold he went on to explain that $990 was a typo and it was really $590, $400 less! We booked in a date and on that morning he phoned and said he couldn't make it as his grandfather was dying. We then booked in another date and the night before he advised that his car had broken down and then the following morning he advised that he was at the plumbing supply place and they had stuffed his order up and were phoning around to find pipe and valves, all the stuff that Bunnings have cheaper! Seems like tradies haven't lost the excuses over the years.
Anyway, anyone in Adelaide with a gas fitter who actually wants the work please let me know. (Annie, I'm aware of yours)
Regards,
Bob

Any caravan dealer should be able to do it mate. First bloke you got sounds a bit like a drop kick, wouldn't get my business. Cost me about 800, two years ago. 4 hour job at $100/hr doesn't take long to gobble up your money, + parts Good luck

When we wanted to redo the gas lines in our 57 Bondwood I found a plumber who has a gas licence. He had all the gear and the licence as well. So try your local plumbers list and see if they have a gas licence. Cant give you any help on what it will cost. You should also get a certification plate from them for your van. Michael

Dear Bob, Manny did all gas work on our van. I think he is also fully legal for all caravan electrics. Found his advice thorough. Punctual. Good luck. There is no 2nd chances with gas and sleeping in caravans and the legislations are constantly being upgraded. Our next job is to get gas certificate through Govt officer. Annie. Adelaide

Thanks Annie and as per our previous conversation, could you please forward me a copy of the standards you mentioned to me, eg the metal plate under the sliding bench top and whatever else the officials require? And I will obviously need to get a COC from my son for the electrics then for when I eventually go for insurance. Thanks, Bob.
