My father in law purchased a bondwood caravan for my then 14yo husband to live in. Now 20 years down the track we have finally saved her from the cow paddock and started to restore her. I have carefully removed the 40 layers of paint and have sanded the drawbar and part of the chassis but have found nothing to hint at what it might be. I'm hoping someone might be able to shed some light. I'm thinking it may be a 59 skyline home built. Please help if you can ?

Hi Janeyb, Can you put up a side and interior photo for us? Will help a lot with identifying your van. Cheers hughdeani

Hi janeyb, Doesn't look like a Skyline to me,wrong shape and Windows. Could be homemade,or could be a Qld or NSW build.I will wrack my brains and see if I can remember something similar I have seen. Cheers hughdeani

Thanks hughdeani. I am in Queensland, was wondering if it could be a kit or did people just built them from scratch. So many of them look similar or in some cases the same. I'm so lost. It has a curved cupboard that I haven't seen in any other caravans but the kitchen, lounge, and fold out bed seems very common.

Hi Janeyb, Could be a kit van,or even a shell that had the interior home built. The curved cupboard was quite common for that era, lots of home and factory built vans had that feature. Maybe someone will recognise more features. Cheers hughdeani

We have taken the roof off because it was sagging and I was worried there might be some rot. There was no rot (thank goodness) but the frame work looks like bits and pieces of whatever was lying around (lots of silky oak) so I'm guessing that it probably wasn't a kit. Would I be right in that assumption?
