* Further to my prior thread topic before cleaned and researched… here is a formal FOR SALE listing for the following vintage caravan in great condition and prime for the right restorer. Also found it is a little older than the insurance papers said as we found original purchase docs *
FOR SALE – Vintage 14’ 10 Valiant (by Viscount) Caravan bought new 1967 – 1 owner - Mint original condition. Located in Adelaide.
Attachment Deleted
Ordered brand new by my grandfather and bought in 1967 for $1431 from Ambassador Caravans Pty Ltd in Elsternwick Victoria – Chassis # B4029. This van has been lovingly kept immaculate by the family, and always garaged, and has been unregistered/unused sitting in the garage since October 1978.
We have just pulled it out of the garage, given it a quick clean up and regretfully need to sell as we don’t have capability to keep but want it to go to a good home for its next adventures – and it looks to have plenty of capability yet!
Absolute pristine condition given the age, as per the photos, and with a full history/record of paperwork for the vintage caravan enthusiast. Includes order letter with specifications chosen, original deposit and final payment receipts, all manuals for appliances (fridge, stove), last registration plate, photos of it being used in its ‘hayday’, parts box with original new parts (inc indicator covers, wheel bearings, oil seal, globes, screws, etc).
Includes annex which has material in perfect condition as shown in photos. Also has custom-made blue runner mats for inside, that fit along floor walkways, in great condition.
Photos - Posted below here (to the max 20) or you can view the online album: www.flickr.com/photos/60345373@N06/sets/72157651250182057/
I have added rear and inside ceiling images to this Flickr feed.
Order spec sheet detail:
Height: To top of hatch maximum 8’1”
Outside: Plain aluminum with blue sash painted
Inside: Satinwood paneling with maple door facings and roof lining as near to white as possible
Upholstery: Medium blue
Door/Drawer Catches/Knobs: Chrome
Table top and benches: Patterned white laminex
Fridge: Plain white (Polar GR-51EG)
Stove: Two burner with griller (Rinnai R-2G)
Sink: Square (even still has plug)
Windows: Sash and frame type with double openings back and front
Cupboards: Top cupboards open downwards, lockable drawers (still have keys!)
Extras: Power Point over stove top, annex light, annex, floor runner mats
In terms of ‘damage’ – all we can identify is:
- A small crack across one corner of the front windows
- Some plastic clips broken/perished that hold internal fly screens down.
* No doubt it would need some work to tyres, wheel bearings, brakes, new gas, seal, check lines/electrical etc to get it in top notch usable condition today but it is such a beautifully maintained and finished base for the right vintage caravan enthusiast/restorer.
Questions, inspections, etc please call Hayley on 0417809040 or hayles.bishop@gmail.com, located Adelaide Metro.
Please, note that we already have an offer for $4,000.
Please also note this item is listed across various forums/sites.
Sold “as is”… before purchasing you are welcome to inspect, ask questions or request more information/photos on any specific elements.
I have more photos but am limited to maximums here and online sales sites. NB It is currently on auction via Ebay as well.
We require the van sold/collected by the middle of May.
Thanks for looking and cheers to those from the vintage caravan community who we have spoken to, and gave us advice, in planning to sell. There are lots of lovely people out there and I have enjoyed chatting with you.
