Well the Shed is filling up and I am pleased to announce the arrival of Wally, an original 1955 Alexander 16 footer This van has been in the one family until now and was purchased from the son of the original owner Wally, hence the name. It was built for his father Walter T Mott who before purchasing hired a couple of vans to determine if he liked the experience. It was a step up from their homemade trailer that carried a tent. It was towed by a 53 Ford Customline all over Vic and NSW and up until 1961 spent summers at a 4 acre bush block at Blairgowrie on the Mornington Peninsula 200 m from the waters edge in Canterbury Jetty Rd on " front beach". Not sure if there are any of these still around but would be happy to hear from anyone who has heard of any others Here are some pics ( Don Ricardo feel free to post them in the Alexander section of DHL) Goodies found in the van! Interesting badge on the front of the van! Thanks to all those who helped to facilitate the purchase of this van! A big thanks to Dale and Kylie for all his help and Mr & Mrs Kaybee ( Colin & Kris) for letting me park the van at their place and being so helpful and hospitable. I am sure you are missed by many on this forum as Colin you are very " usefull" More to come soon Cheers

G'day Andrew, Congratulation, that is a very nice original van by the looks of it... rare and it's good to see it in the hands of somebody who appreciates such things . In DHL their advertesments seemed to make the point that they were 'light weight' so.... does that indicate she is single skin construction ? Nice to have 'useful' people being ...... useful during these recovery operations aye ? Cobber.

Cobber the van advertised as " lightweight " looks like the small 10 footer. This has double skin walls all round , Baltic pine floorboards and Baltic secondaries etc suspect it would weight round a metric ton considering the Jenno weighs in at round 880kg?? Dale tho Don would be nice but where to put it! Will have to build another shed!!! Btw if anyone wants a superb early original untouched Don let me know ! ( it's in Vic)

Cheers Murray Murray I'm sure your onesie will stay waterproof! And the train goes by so many times that after a while you wouldn't notice it!

A guy I know through mutual friend owns that boat, he was in the wooden boat club with me. I imagine he would be interested in the decal if you didn't want to use it. That boat has a lot of history

Well Wally got his first camping trip for a long time last week! Here he is seen at Sisters Beach in Tassie . We have holidayed here every year since the kids were born and this year Wally was used as a sleep out for the kids and their friends......in fact the loved it so much that on returning home our youngest didn't want to sleep in her own bed but preferred the van!!! Hard to leave here but all good things come to an end!
