Hi, just new to this site. got myself a Valiant caravan... mid 60's i guess not bad on the outside, bit of a tragedy on the inside...half stripped, and every thing else left ,painted a pale apricot color. Going to be my eldest daughters bedroom for a while, but I will be restoring it as i go. already put new ceiling sheets in it, and will do the rest of it as money and time become available late evening photo, on the way home in Bunnings carpark, getting bits to start the work on the old 'van "Baby" the Bluebird had no trouble towing the Valiant...so she will be as light as a feather behind the other valiant... a 1969 VF Regal 770 v8 sedan, and the EH holden wagon wont have much of a problem either

G'day fireball,
Nice Val,
I dragged one home Vic a couple of months ago. They are a nice size van, mine is a 67 model (from the original date stamp on the gas bottle).
Yours looks to be a bit newer based on the windows and the aluminium profile.
If you need any pics of the original fitout or are interested in a folding lounge and base that will bolt straight in let me know.
Check out my van in the 'look what Josh dragged home' post below. She is a lot more waterproof now but missing a ceiling and some internal wall lining which hade to go to fix the rot.
Have fun with your van, this forum is a gold mine for info.
Cheers,
Josh

Hi dudes. I have a similar 16' (4.6m) van to this for sale. It is identical to this van inside, however, it is an early 70s van and the outside is clad with the later 70s style white with a green stripe "quilted board aluminium cladding" and double louvered wind out windows at either end. Its in this saturdays Newcastle herald for $500. Suffering water damage inside and rust around front coupling. Suit storage shed , spare parts or backyard accomodation .. $500. pm me if you are interested.
Reddo... Steptoe Used vans.

well I'm back after 2 years, had to re-join the site, but I'm surprised that my posts are still here.... The Valiant has finished its job as a bedroom for the daughter, I just got it out of the back this w/end (a 2 day job... it took 3 days to get it IN there..). Now the Restoration can begin... Have to deal with a constant leak problem first tho'... Its always leaked in one spot, and I have not been able to stop it, even tho' I'm a caravan repair person, and every other van I've sealed has stayed sealed.... Any way I 'm looking forward to starting, going to polish up the exterior first, as its now out the front of my place, and I want it to look good. I just read the new info about the Valiant brand, I thought mine might be about 1964 ( the old A.C.T. number plate on it was given to me, I call it the build date of the van T-15.364 15/3/64 build date) but now i think its a little newer than that. the chassis number is b1783. Ill keep you updated on the re-build.

Hi Fireball,
You are posting a picture with each post, but it doesn't come up on the screen unless the viewer actually goes on your thread. Then a picture appears. But not if you are just browsing the last 30 posts,
Its much easier if you use photobucket & Jims instructions on posting photos.
That way all of us semi illiterate computer geese ( we havent made geek level ) can see what you are trying to show us.
Photobucket really is the easiest way to do it. Save your pix into photobucket. You can write a storey in word, insert your pix from photobucket, then copy & paste to the thread on here, that you want to use.
Mucho easier, & the continuity of the post is magic.
Why not give it a try. You're putting in the effort now, but it doesnt work for us dummies here that dont know what you are trying to achieve,
JBJ

ok, I'm back on line , a bit more work done on the Valiant a bit of new paint along the side stripping the old paint from the front new paint just on, still got the masking in place the stripping process is slow and tedious, this is after 3 aplications of stripper !!. All the old paint has to come off to get a neat finish on the new paint the inside (at the front only !) is done...

the inside walls are ply panels from Bunnings - $26.50 each, the blue is "blue suede" and the brown is "northland beech" or something like that. The venetions are from Bunnings as well, come in many sizes and colors . These ones are aluminium, and of course are the most expensive! the front window one was $75.
