Hi all,
I'm needing to transport my Viscount 250 kms north to south in Tassie. As most already know, she's just a rolling shell, & she's off for a coat of new 2 pak!
Advice needed - whats the best way to attack this trip..?? She'll be void of all windows & strips & flattened back, & i'm planning to strap her to a car trailer for the trip. I did get some quotes for a Transport company to it, but its very costly.
As stated, any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Thomas.

Hi I'm sure I saw something about transporting old cars and caravans with no windows/doors etc and the had them on the trailer then shrink wrap the whole vehicle /caravan really well. If u have a dig around this forum re transporting vans I'm sure you will find it.

Gday Thomas. Basically what carmel said.As you`re already in Tassie, wrap the entire van in shrink or enclose it in a good tarp.Stops the wind blowing it (the caravan) apart.Strap her down good & off you go.HOWEVER: You`d better check BEFORE you go re the 2pak paint - how long after its painted could you wrap it without damaging the fresh paint! Hate to see money down the drain before you get it back home again.

The post is called - transport and recovery for caravans it's about 4-5 posts above this post in the forum - there are photos to have a look at re the shrink wrap I was trying to explain - good luck and I'm sure your van will look beautiful when it's done :-)

Just another question on this subject is it better to get the caravan outside done when there are no doors and windows on?? My Frankie is in that state now but I thought I had to have all her 'bits' back on before the outside was done??
