What looks like water damage is really as dry as a bone with no rot I like this shape rear, More views Do you reckon this Gas setup is still the state of the art? Ive waited 4 years since I last saw one like this and with all its Probs its the best Ive seen, hope once restored it looks half as good as some of yours. bye, DP

Hi DP, Love the profile - nice classic shape I'm interested in the hatch as well. It appears to be a double hatch, am I correct? If so it will provide a lovely light environment inside, complemented by quite big windows for its era. Nice big icebox too, although with the doorless look it may be difficult to stop the ice melting Seriously though, if the woodwork is as solid as you say it has the makings of a really nice van and there don't appear to be many old Chesneys around - based on what's appeared on the forum - so that's an extra bonus. Good luck with the restoration. Don Ricardo

Gday Don, Yes I thougt the icebox looked a little bare, the seller tried to chuck an old 70,s 3 way fridge into the deal but I wasnt going past a dump on the way home so I left that with him. It is a better van than appears in the pics, beauty is in the EYE of the beholder as they say but I must admit I have to squint when looking at it. I would say its last road trip was in 72 and must have led an interesting life till then, it had been under cover since then as the damage hasnt been worsened by weather. Any ice boxes out there
