Hi SGTL,
There are a couple of examples on the first page of the DHL Viscount thread of what look to be the same model van with the same cladding (including the coloured non-ribbed cladding between the windows), so I am thinking that the side cladding on the Ebay van is original.
One of the vans on the DHL thread has double hopper windows like the Ebay van and the other doesn't. Franklin1 told us at one point that Viscount introduced double hopper windows on Ambassador vans in late 1964, so...given that the Ebay van is a similar shape to a 1963 van, but has partially ribbed side cladding and double hopper windows, maybe its a 1964 model?
Both the vans on the DHL thread seem to have painted cupboards, so perhaps the laminex cupboard faces were added later on as you suggested - especially since the laminex on the splashback, stove cover and just underneath the front window are a completely different design. But then perhaps using a couple of different patterns was part of 'in' decor at that point?
I'm not sure about when the laminex pattern on the cupboard doors was introduced. Maybe Hugedeani or Seeshell will be able to enlighten us on that score? Hopefully they'll cruise by soon...

Hi Don and sgtl, Don't forget this guy has 2 Viscounts he has used to make one,so maybe he has mixed and matched some bits and bobs. Exterior is standard,a lot of manufacturers in that era used flat and ribbed. Maybe(as still happens today) there was a shortage of some components and they also mixed and matched! Cheers Hughdeani

Hi Hughdeani,
Thanks for those comments regarding the Viscount on Ebay.
Can you tell me when caravan manufacturers started using the grey wood grain laminex? SGTL suggested early 70's, but I seem to recall seeing some vans from the late 60's (1967 on?) which were using that pattern. Do you think it was earlier or later than that?

From memory I think the changeover was about 1965'dont know why I think that though! Also most of the manufacturers used suppliers that had the same colours(as per today!)that's why your Franklins,Coronets,Newlands etc have the same toning inside. Cheers Hughdeani
