Hi All,
Since buying our Roadmaster last year we have been speaking to Larry the owner of the Roadmaster Caravans in Adelaide. They have been continually making caravans from the 1950's up until today. www.roadmastercaravans.com.au/1.html
He has recently joined the site as Lazza.
We have been in contact quite a few times and Larry recently sent us the following:
"Hey Judy and Geoff here is 2 photos of our old caravan, one with the owners whom we bought it from. The van belonged to Bob's father who bought it new in 1956. It's bondwood Roadmaster with a canvas roof as they were in those days. I havn't been lucky enough yet to purchase the other caravan they own that belonged to his wife's parents. It is a 1964 Roadmaster caravan , aluminium clad with a fibreglass roof. Will take some photos of van on inside when I get a chance. As you see the outside is as good as it looks. The caravan has been in a shed unmoved and unmolested for the past 30 years. It is in exceptional condition . All it needs is a little TLC and I can certainly give it that. Cheers for now Larry"
I spoke to Larry yesterday and he still hasn't had time to take the photos of the inside - we'll all just have to wait a bit longer.
The people Larry bought the van off still also have the original tow car, can't remember what it was,(I think a Riley Pathfinder) sorry for being such a girl.
Maybe Larry can add some info next time he logs on.
Trying to talk him into coming to Mt Gambier - hey we might be able to set up "Roadmaster Alley". I told Larry about the other Roadmaster that showed up in the photos of the Churchill Island run.

ps larry is setting up a Roadmaster museum at his plant outside adelaide, thought mark might be interested to know.
