Hi there,
we are new to the restoration game! Wondering if anyone knows where I can source new lengths of seals for windows for our 1963 Millard? We are in Hobart. Have not measured the old seals but will do asap. Am unsure of the lingo to use re enquiring about them! Thank you!

Hi girls what a handsome van you have gotten yourselves! If you look under the members section for Lazza he may be able to help you? Also There is a guy who lives near me who sourced some from SA so will get his details to you! Murray ( above ) has plenty of time on his hands and has skills so he would be a good contact. Glad you are on the forum you will find heaps of help here Cheers Andrew

Dear fellow newcomers - we here are both on a massive learning curve - so will share. This will either make you feel fantastic as you know heaps more, or it might prove helpful!!!! We have learnt that the window seal is the bit between the frame and the glass, and the window flange is the rubbery bit that goes around the outside of the aluminium frame and is pressed up against the exterior cladding when the window is locked shut. I have finally located what I think is the correct rubber flange to aluminium frame of our tiny 10' 1961 Harris van through a New Zealand company called - www.basisnz.co.nz - picked up from technical discussion on Franklin window rubber replacement. I have now just learnt that the horrible silicone that lies between the aluminium frame and the glass (which I always thought was suspect) is not supposed to be done that way - and through SA business Fitch the Rubberman, have been directed to a plastics business which I will be checking out. The discussion on the Franklin window seal replacement is really excellent, and I now feel confident to do the job. Any further advice from more experienced folk will always be appreciated... if I've got these bits wrong. The whole experience of a complete caravan demolition, renovation/rebuild is proving a fantastic challenge and we are loving every minute. Cheers, Annie n Pete

G'day Annie 'n Pete, Thanks for sharing the information you have gleaned regarding window rubbers, that is what this forum has been about for ten years now..... gathering and sharing information I've added 'Fitch The Rubberman' to our ever growing list of window rubber suppliers in the 'Vintage restoration parts suppliers list' . I'll give the NZ supplier a miss because most any rubber profile should be available from the Aussie suppliers we have listed. Cobber.
