The organizer of this event contacted us via facebook when they saw a picture of a vintage van we had put in, and we said we would spread the word for her, so here are the details for anyone interested. At this stage I don't think we will be able to go, as I have something already on that weekend, but sure there are others who might want to go? Sounds fun.

Details for the Vintage Caravan Expo are as follows:
To be held in Uralla NSW Friday October 31 to Sunday November 2, 2014. Uralla is situated on the New England Highway about halfway between Brisbane and Sydney. It's 20 mins south of Armidale, about 1 hour 15 mins north of Tamworth and about 3 hours west of Coffs Harbour.
Uralla has various cafes and restaurants, boutique brewery, two pubs, bowling club, antique stores and op shops, McCrossins Mill Museum. Nearby are various wineries, gorges and waterfalls, Saumerez House (National Trust) etc.
Friday evening and night will be Halloween activities for the kids and BBQ and laid back entertainment and bands later. Saturday night is 1950s dance. Competitions are Bathing Belle (contestants can take this as seriously or as tongue in cheek as they like), various decorated van prizes, also best van, etc. Market stalls, street entertainment, etc during the days.
Various sites for vans and tents around town, prices vary depending on level of services provided but starting at $30 per night.
More information available via vintageonhill@yahoo.com.au, 0434 724 014, 19 Hill Street Uralla 2358 or via www.facebook.com/vintagecaravanexpo.
Please let me know if you'd like more details etc....we're planning on renting out some vintage vans and 'glamping' style tents as well, for people who don't have their own vintage vans to try out plus we'll have a display of vans for sale as well....I am developing a permanent display of vans for sale and van goodies (soaps with pics, fabric, that sort of thing) in my store in Uralla (it maintains interest in the expo too, we get a lot of travellers in) and if your members were interested in selling their vans or goodies, just ask them to contact me also.
Thanks and regards,
Deborah Pell
**I sent question back asking if you had to pack up van every night and return in morning - RESPONSE:
No, vanners would not have to move nightly...looks like we'll have use of an oval plus part of another park, grassed street verges and also the paddocks/yards next to or behind some of the businesses in town. The oval is one block back from the Main Street, the businesses (like mine) which have large yards are either on the Main Street or around the corner...my shop is on Hill Street and I'm working with council to close part of that to be the main arena for stalls, prize giving, bathing belle competition and the like. The street verges are nice wide grassed verges on King Street, down to the Uralla Caravan Park, Alma Park and the bowling club which will all be involved. I haven't confirmed prices for vans yet but will start from $30 a night, depending on the level of facilities required....some may just want toilet facilities, shower facilities, some just power, some the whole hog with breakfast as well. The 1950s dance will be extra.
Vanners can book individually or as a group so that you're situated together...I can do one or two free sites if a group books a few sites.
Well, that's all the info I have - enjoy! Linda.
