Hi all, have just finished a hurried rebuild of our 68 Quest. After purchasing it unseen from Warrnambool in May this year. We had it arrive home after a long winded drama filled trip, only to find it was completely mis-represented with its condition. The chassis was that badly rusted out that the body had sagged and lost its shape over the remaining rails. We decided to bite the bullet and completely remake a new chassis and floor and rebuild it from there. We have plans to use take it away over Xmas, towing it behind our Pontiac GTO, so the pressure has been on to get it finished. Pretty much done now. Just a few bits and pieces that we can finish off as we use it. Hope to get to some events soon. Cheers, Perry

Hi 66goat, Wow! The van looks great, particularly behind the Pontiac. Very nice indeed! Regarding posting photos, have you looked at the 'Forum Guidelines & Helpful Hints' section of the forum? There's a thread there about posting photos using Photobucket. The moderators really encourage people to post photos using Photobucket or similar, partly because the photos are actually displayed full size in your post, partly because you can post more than one photo at a time (as opposed to one at time if you use the attachment tool), but most importantly because when the Vintage Caravans forum is updated to the latest version of the Proboards platform in the next couple of weeks, we understand that all the photos posted as an attachment will disappear! By the way you can also post photos using Flickr, Imageshack, etc, instead of Photobucket. If you want to do that, let me know and I will send you some info on how to do it. Oh, and did I say "great job on the van"? Don Ricardo

hi goat66 your picture layout was modified by conti to restore normal page size. great photos and a very nice quest and ponti. next time you post more than one photo, if you put a blank line between each photo it stops the page spreading sideways. conti

Hey, well done 66goat! You've got it and the photos look great. It really is a great combo you've got there! You just need to remember to include two carriage returns (ie press 'Enter') between each photo. That separates them and means that they display vertically one after the other. Without the carriage returns the photos display side by side and distort the forum window. I've edited your post so that the photos now show vertically. Hope that's OK with you. Don Ricardo (Sorry for using 'carriage return' instead of 'Enter' - I know that's old school terminology relating to typewriters not computers, but that's how I keep on thinking of it... )

Thanks Kel. Where did your GTO end up? Your Safari - does that have a 389 in it? Is the 65 a Ventura or Catalina?

GTO went to the western suburbs of Melbourne. The Catalina Safari LHD and the Bonneville Coupe LHD are both 389's 4 barrel 303 HP , 4 speed hydramatics , . The Catalina motor is actually out of a 61 Bonneville but looks almost identical to the 60. The Coupe motor is a bit sick so it is waiting to be worked on ,still pulls really well but uses oil ,i now have 2 full tri /power set ups waiting to be fitted , Was a great trip driving it from New York to Los Angeles last year . We have been to 3 USA National Pontiac Conventions ,POCI . and one western regional , and many other shows , Detriot Dream Cruise on Woodward being the biggest with 40.000 classics . that is not a missprint . The 65 Convertible is a Parisienne ( canadian ) RHD ,Chev running gear , it seems i am focusing on Pontiac as there are fewer around and i find them much more interesting and full of character . and with that torque they pull the van very well . cheers kel.

I thought so, I remembered your GTO. We were there all weekend. We won the presidents choice and sponsors choice awards in our gold 65 Catalina at the prize giving.
