G'day Foxy, That is a very interesting article about Properts, in more ways than one .... also a good picture item about the vintage caravans.com WA Goldfields tour on page 53. Having trouble getting the online version try this link issuu.com/timetoroamaustralia/docs/issue_5_e_magCobber

Have a look at DEC Caravan World and towards the back you will see my Globey. 3 pages no less. (well PART of 3 pages anyway) The story was done by Keith and Susan Hall at Tanunda over a year ago and they say they now have a vintage caravan article in Both CW and T t R every month. Now to check out the Propert. Beetles

Looking for suggestions on how to find someone interested in a restoration project for my Propert. I don't want to sell her but need to pay someone to do the work for me.

.........also an article on the history of WA's "Modern" caravan. According to the article, the gentleman who started manufacturing this caravan brand, was not Yugoslavian (as per our DHL), but rather Italian-born Peter Formiatti, who came to Australia as a boy.
Below this article is a letter to the editor regarding "Roma" caravans claim to being 85 years old (interesting that our DHL section doesn't mention any Roma found that has been constructed earlier than the mid 1950's).

Below this article is a letter to the editor regarding "Roma" caravans claim to being 85 years old (interesting that our DHL section doesn't mention any Roma found that has been constructed earlier than the mid 1950's). Daggsey Hi Daggsey, Just letting you know that I've edited the first post in the DHL Modern caravan thread to record Peter Formiatti's name and correct the reference to his birthplace. It's important for us to correct errors in our information when we become aware of them. Thanks for pointing out this particular error. Interesting about the Roma story isn't it? We noted the claim about being 85 years in the business a while ago, but still haven't found a Roma van older than the early 50's/very late 40's. All I can think is that they have changed their name at some point, eg the pre-WWII firm of Romany Road could possibly have re-branded as Roma after the war. Another alternative is that the firm has been around for that long but produced something else for the first 40 years. I haven't got any proof for either of these theories, but I would love to get to the bottom of it at some point... Don Ricardo
