I can remember a couple of these vans being in a caravan park at Sussex Inlet on the south coast of NSW... The caravan park was then known as "The Sea Crest" They were permanent site vans... I was 15 at the time and it was 1987 (you do the maths ) My folks had a permanent site van there as well... (18ft Chesney Pacemaker II ) Who knows these Olympics could still be there... Hmmm Come to think of it I can even remember a Carapark there as well... Geez the memories are flooding back now! You'd be surprised by what lurks around on permanent sites. Cheers Greg

Yup Humptys still got his....an Olympic Riviera 16ft..... Debonair is a 14 footer and then there is the Contessa which is a 21 footer I think, and not many to be seen. We have 4 Olympic Rivieras in our local car club and 1 Debonair, plus the 10 Sunliners

Hi "The Gumbys" Welcome aboard "the wackiest ship on the web" Wife and i spotted a Debonair at Warners Bay not far from our place while we where out riding over the Xmas break. In very good condition out on the front lawn for all the world to see. I banged on the door and this old pensioner type informed me that they had bought it 2 years ago for $4500. Very stylish vans . Mind you i am a "Splinters on rubber piers" addict ( plywood caravan lover) and cant see myself ever owning a van that is made out of material designed for surfboards. Sorry mate.... Just having a dig.... Welcome to the site and your van will look cool behind the '34 roadster when Ray finally gets his finger out. Reddo - Newcastle

Neill,
The man to contact is Bob Taylor...he is the "guru" when it comes to Olympics.
His email address is ....robertt@cn-newc.com.au
He is just across the border,NSW/QLD at Bogangar.
He will be happy to hear from you........try to have your chassis number, which is located underneath the drawbar.or the electrical certificate.usually located in the pantry.
Regards Humpty

Looking at the pics of the interior of your van it is pretty original with the gloss finish laminex on the cupboards ,and the sliding glass cabinet and great pantry are standard Olympic features Is there a cutout in the wardrobe to facilitate single beds ( which was the most common fitout). My Riviera has a club lounge up front and a full double bed down the back (crossways)

Please can you post what the club lounge looks like and photos of the wardrobe cutout I dont understand. What goes in the hole on the left as you walk in the door, is it a clock do you have a photo of that too? Thanks Neill

A "Debonair" would probably have cutouts in the cabinetry to facilitate single beds. The "Riviera", being 16ft takes the single beds or double without needing to sacrifice cupboards..........the hole you refer to, if it is between the cupboards was for a clock........it was usually a porcelain "Junghans". I haven't taken any photos yet, but when I do I will post some. (I am trying to do number2 Sunliner at present and all the gear from that is in the Olympic.and the contents from a boat too!)
