Hi All, Some years ago when I was rebuilding my early Sunliner, I bought this step from Spyder (John) who made a few of them at the time. My memory of how it fits & works has dimmed over the years, but needless to say I dont need it any more. I'm posting these pix to show those of you that may have an early Sunliner, with the space frame tube chassis, & are missing a step, to show how the factory made them. I believe this is very close to a factory step in style & construction. Firstly the step itself has a tube running to the inside chassis rail. This allows the step to slide in & out as it hinges. There is a rod, with a wedge shape one end, a handle & spring on the other end. I believe this is the control for where the step sits, as it wedges the tube from the step into the chassis. It fits thru the bracket hanging down from the angle iron. The top angle iron is attached to the step with welded butt hinges. These are very similar to how the Sunliner door hinges werre fabricated, lending credence to my thoughts that this is a copy of a factory unit. The angle iron then fastens to the van near the door. I cant remember whether it was meant to be screwed into the floor, or welded to something. The assembly is how I got it , & never installed. The step is being bought at present by a Forum member, so its finally going to be used. Hopefully this will give some clues to the Sunliner puzzles that are out there JBJ
