Thanks Retro and JBJ
I have only polished it up so far. I am looking to make a checker plate box to sit on the draw bar to hold the gas bottle and other assorted stuff. I need to be careful as the distance between the Triton 4x4 tail gate and the van isn't great so I don't want to reduce my turning circle too much. Also my wife drives a new VW beetle turbo (yellow) so we have thought we may also tow the van with it. That would look pretty cool. I'd love to have an old car like you guys but what I know about motors you could write on the back of an aspro in capital letters, so we will keep what we have.
I was going to get it sprayed but too many $$$$$$$ involved so we will just keep it polished as this stage. But you should never say never!
We have an awning and are thinking of getting an annex but will wait until we use it a couple of times to see if it is necessary.
Getting a new stone shield made for the front windows with the colour to match the stripe and will be purchasing a new jockey wheel to replace the rusty old one.
We have bought retro orange coloured banana lounges for the outside and am looking to but a table and chairs that match. All cooking will be outside with gas so we will try to carry the theme on there as well.
Getting new tyres but keeping the original rims etc. The spare on the back is interesting as it is a full wheel assembly (bearings and all) so very good if a bearing goes while on the road.
Have purchased some 1960's surfing stickers (ebay) for the rear windows and with the the VC stickers once they arrive from the other side of the world the look will be complete! The only other addition will be the malibu and my fishing gear, the dogs and all their stuff, the TV, etc, etc, etc, etc. Lucky it only weighs 700kgs.
The van has generated a lot of interest where we live. We are opposite Lighthouse Beach in Port Macquarie and lots of people have stopped to look and admire. It's amazing how something so old generates such interest. Even friends who have new vans seem to like what they see. Must be something about trying to keep a link with our youth.
regards
PaulW
P.S What is this Jail Bar Juice stuff anyway?

Well done Paul. You have captured the laid back surf style with that colour scheme. I too am puting a box on the front of my ply van. I have scored an originage trunk from the fifties to use. Our coulours are to be red and cream seats with the black/white tiles and your photos hve given us some kool ideas. Cheers, Santa28a

A beaut job PaulW, we might have to make you our colour consultant. Who would have thought that those colours would look so great together. Congratulations on a job well done. Humpty would have charged you double if he knew what it would turn out like!!! Cheer Ray
