Hi Guys & Gals After dropping in here as a guest for the last 12 months , thought it was time I joined up. I belong to the FE/FC club of NSW , like all types of "old cars". Trev & Carrots first intoduced me to this site when we used to "chat" for hours in the car club chat room , Trev is very sadly missed here. Main reason for joining is I hope to restore my fathers old caravan "one day" ... I'ts been sitting in my yard for 10 years , so it's about time I did something about it. The Van is a "Caravan Accessories" kit job (6'6" x 12'6") that dad bought in 1963. Have put a pic here taken about 1967-68 , but is a "little" second hand now, and needs a "BIG" tidy up. I already know a couple of people on this site , to the ones I don't know , "Hi" . ( Hi, to the ones I do know too ;D ) Norm

Welcome aboard Norm ......great to have you join the fun ......we look forward to your input.
Your Dad's van looks like a worthy project .....heaps of family history there. I wish my Dad had kept the two vans he built, one in 1954 and one in 1963.
Mark

Geesh Mark Seems our dad's were building van's about the same time . Dad built his first van in the early 50's and towed it to WA in 1955 behind a '55 Mk1 Zephyr . I've got to go through all his old photo's & slides sometime , when I find some of the old vans I'll post them up. Norm

gidday Norm My first trip to W.A. was in a 100E ford Prefect and the other boys who travelled with us were in a Mark1 Zephyr there where 8 of us and in 1959 crossing the Nullarbour was and I mean was an Adventure ;D ;D My best mate who was a fair skinned Germanic type got totally sunburnt from head to toe and was as red as a lobster blistered and was in a real bad way poor bugger then on the way home he drank water from one of the tanks they provided and vomited for two days we almost had to call the flying doctor dennis was a sick boy it turned out to be a blessing in disguise because I ran out of money and my dad wired me money to Perth and we had to leave before it arrived so I was broke hungry and wondering how I was going to eat going home Dennis was dehydrated and sick for the first two days so he gave me his food then just as he was feeling better he drank the bad water so I got to eat his food all the way home The road was a total mess Bulldust and Corrugations from Norseman to Port augusta at 15 it was a massive adventure and that is the reason I live in W.A. Today once I saw it I fell in love with it and came back in 67 I bet it was even a bigger adventure for your dad Norm look forward to some of your dads pictures Regards Will
